Any ideas what could be wrong or solution? I checked everything even tried the Windows method of getting into the bios but for some reason this board doesn't want to go into the bios after the F20 update.

Is there any other way of getting into the bios?

First try a different USB port for the keyboard. Then did you enable Fast Boot? That skips over the time you had to hit the key. You can get in there by selecting an option in Windows to access the BIOS on next startup.

Tried every USB port, fast boot is not enabled and Windows method (Setting, Recovery, Advanced... doesn't provide Bios option)... opened a ticket with Gigabyte... this sucks! Although this board has a ton of features, it has given me a lot of headaches starting with RAM compatibility and now this. Any other Gigabyte owners having issues with F20 bios???

Update: found a way to get into the bios by unplugging the hard drive but the keyboard doesn't work in the bios! Tried clearing CMOS, tried every usb port and nothing. Keyboard is fine, I'm typing on it right now. The mouse in the bios doesn't do a whole lot and I can't change most of the settings with just a mouse.

I had also updated to F20 and the bios decided to give my i7-6700k 1.34 cpu core voltage as default. Normal on f8 bios was 1.22 vcore. I called gigabyte customer support and they said that F20 was for the up coming cpu's and that I shoudnt have flashed the bios. Website states that you cannot role back from F20 but in doesnt state that if you have current hardware you shouldnt use the newest bios. I now have to send my board in so they can revert bios back to f8. What a bunch of shit!!! I just ordered a Asus Maximus Hero Alpha...

WTF?!?!?! You're right, the website doesn't state we shouldn't use for current hardware. This is BS!

Yowza, I have this working fine with my Skylake, though I am not doing any overclocking. It is definitely not clear the users shouldn't be upgrading to this. Though Kyle's latest Gigabyte board review certainly looks like the F20 BIOS layoutand UI, even though it is using a Skylake CPU.

Was your keyboard still working in the bios and were you able to adjust the settings?

yes. Everything was normal but the changes that were made to the default voltages. Have you called back technical support to ask about the update and what I had been told by the technician I worked with?

Thanks bud! I tried another keyboard I brought home from work and apparently it was a keyboard issue. For some reason this bios doesn't recognize my G510 keyboard which is weird considering I never had this issue before. I'm typing on it right now. I tested this keyboard with my AMD rig and I'm able to get into the bios no problem. Anyways, I was able to adjust my settings to what I had before so I'm happy but kind of weird how a bios update can all of a sudden stop my keyboard from entering the bios and adjust the bios settings.

P.S. I also noticed after the bios update the CPU Voltage was set at 1.3 volts by default and the bios was showing the cpu was running at 1.34 volts.

When I saw the F20 can't be rolled back I noped. I'll stick with whatever I have on mine for the time being.

I would be interested to here what Kyle's thoughts are on this. Doesnt seem right that they would add an update for a cpu that hasnt even hit the streets and that would have a potential negative affect for the processor's it was designed for!

Kyle's input isn't needed. Gigabyte should not release firmware for any device at any time that negatively effects hardware it was originally marketed for. Nor should any other company. The fact that Gigabyte said that to you is bogus and I'm wondering what kind of idiot tech you spoke to.

Ok HeavensCloud, I agree with everything you said. I called support today before I shipped the board back to ask questions to another tech what issues I was having and then to confirm what the other tech had said about the F20 bios. He said that the F20 was of course a compatability update with the new processor but agreed with the fact that its been an issue with giving current cpu's to much voltage. I had to really dig pretty hard to get him to talk about that! And the fact that "psy81" had the same thing happen to his cpu leads me to believe something is wrong. For the most part, I have a not so big overclock of 4.5ghz 9 months of the year. Durring the hot summer months though I set back to default votages so I can idle at 803mhz and ramp up to 1.2ghz where it had been for a year and that was through flashing bios a couple of times and clearing cmos more that once for a failed overclock. At this point, no biggie because its heading in to get fixed. Thanks

I don't know where you found their telephone number. I had to fill in an online form. The ticket has been pending since Monday. I'm still annoyed my G510 keyboard doesn't work with this bios.

Update: I just got a reply. They told me the same thing they told you bud1974. They said,

"Dear customer,

Did you check bios F20 description before update it ? " Support next generation CPU. This BIOS prohibits updating to earlier version BIOS" seems no reason use F20 bios due to current cpu is Gen 6th 6700K...

Best regards,

Lol, I never heard of a bios update that doesn't support current hardware and if you read the description in Gigabyte site nowhere does it warn you not to update the bios if running current hardware.

Not exactly the most honest response. I would've been ok if they owned up to their mistake but this response has convinced me to go with another brand for my next MB. So long Gigabyte... and EVGA (thanks for letting me install thermal pads you should've installed). Sorry for the rant.

Other than that, I'm happy with my rig.

This discussion should be out in the main forum to warn other gigabyte owners of the potential risks this bios update may have.. Gigabyte customer support# 626-854-9338

Did you guys update to that BIOS just for the fun of it or did you actually have issues you were trying to resolve? I think all motherboard manufacturers recommend only flashing BIOS if you need to do it and not just for the sake of having the latest version. I do agree though they obviously shouldn't be releasing updates for a board that causes issues with the CPU it was initially intended to run with in order to support a newer one, but I bet it's not only Gigabyte boards that have effected the voltage with the Kaby Lake Bios versions.

I know a lot of people have upgraded due to some RAM issues from the other threads, Skylake seems to be causing more issues in that area.

I was upgrading to F20 because of memory issues. The reason that my board is going back "rma" is because of memory and they told me they would get me back to F8 bios.

That is a massive "f you" reply, wow.

The F20 BIOSes completely redo the UI and make many things easier to control (especially fans). People want to use the new UI and Gigabyte shouldn't be so stupid to break existing products with an update for unreleased products.

i've got a z170x-gaming 7, s6700k.
no overclocking here, updated to F20 the other day for the sake of having the latest bios.

No issues - keyboard works fine, mouse is fine. Not sure about voltage, it's set to auto.

I recently updated the firmware to F20 a few nights ago. Outside of having to update my boot order, it seems to be working fine on my setup.

If you're running a 6700K at stock chances are your voltages are now set at 1.3V and running at 1.34 at default from 1.2V pre-F20 bios update and subsequently high temps. Since your keyboard is working (*sigh) you could just set the voltages back down to 1.2V if you're running at stock speed.

Well I just got this board last night. i was going to update to the latest bios as one of my first steps. It feels almost like luck that i read this thread.

since the UI is improved i wonder if anybody has done a custom bios for skylake based on this new version?
