The Zotac EN1070 Barebones is now out on Newegg for $1199, but does not include ram, storage or OS and only has an i5 6400T cpu. The GTX 1060 model is $200 cheaper at $999 with the same i5 6400T cpu. What do you guys think of the EN1070, and do you think these mini-barebones PCs have a bright future?

Not until MXM GPU's become mainstream and accessible as replacement parts.

A bit pricy, but pretty cool…

But I can put an i7 6700 CPU & GTX 1080, both under water (AIO on the CPU, integrated AIO from the factory on the GPU) in a Ncase M1 (with a H170 MB) & finish out the build with a 500GB Samsung 960 EVO M.2 SSD, 16GB of RAM, a Corsair SF450 SFX PSU & a set of three custom cables (MB, CPU, & GPU); all for the same cost as the bare bones Zotec unit…!

Larger chassis, yes, but better cooling (discrete AIO for each system, CPU & GPU) & better looking overall…!

Pffft, a $2000 small factor machine lacking Thunderbolt despite having a USB-C connector? That's just pitiful.

Tech report has a review up for the 1070 model of this unit now. To summarize, it's powerful, quiet and well built, but the mobile 1070 rarely hits the specified base clock or beyond (it's close). It may be a little thermally limited, but it appears its greatest limiter is the 180 watt power brick. Make of it what you will.
