Just finished this build.

Gigabyte z170 gaming 7
I7 6700k
Gskill 3400 2x8gb
Nh-d15

So far stable at 4.5ghz at 1.275 volts. Under prime 95 Max Temps are about 71. Seeing if anyone has any tips on this motherboard to push it more. Seems not to like 46 multiplier.

More volts probably needed. Mine is about 1.36 in bios, which is 1.34 load ish. That gets me 4600mhz with max temps being about 74

It may be reaching a wall, where a small increase in speed (100mhz) needs a disproportionately large voltage increase. Also, not all chips are created equal, so no matter what you may not be able to get more speed and stay stable, or you will need a lot more voltage to get it stable. Also, might want to run with this overclock for a week or two, see if it's completely stable and then try going for more.

Well, it has been under prime for 8 hours at 4.508ghz ram at 3645, NB at 4.5ghz. So far all stable. Temps got up to 71 at highest.

small payoff from this point....think u got a good oc. this air right?

Gone a few days on it, no crashes, no reboots. Temps are good. I haven't tried anything past 1.31 volts to cpu so maybe I am not giving enough voltage for higher clocks but for now it is running great.

everything ive seen/read says 1.35v is max for daily use. so you have a little room left. welcome back to the [H]orde, nice starting oc btw!

The 4.7ghz was not stable but I believe is was because the voltage for the io was at .9 and everyone said try 1.2. Just havent gone back to try yet.
