Turns out the intel 2230 wifi card in my laptop is a POS and doesnt support AC.

I did some searching on Intels website and it seems that the last Mini PCIE wifi card, or HMC, they put out was the 7260.

Can someone confirm if that is my best and only option?

Thank You

A lot of times connecting a new wifi card in a laptop doesn't work, especially those mini pcie cards. I am speaking from experience, in my old HP laptop they had a whitelist of approved wifi cards and when mine broke and I tried replacing it with another intel branded wifi card it didnt work. I had to use a usb adapter

Same deal in an old IBM X60S I have. I had to get a hacked bios to get around it.

This is going into my MSI GT70 and they dont whitelist. I went ahead and picked up a 7260, all research says that was the last AC card in that form factor. After that everything is m.2

Works perfect and im getting about four times the speed of the 2230. Transferring an MKV over the wifi now transfers at 40Mbs vs 10Mbs.
