Titanfall 2

I think I may buy this today, i'm reading reviews that the SP is the best since HL2. Even then the MP looks fun and I did really enjoy the first.

How is the PC community?

I think they are trading turkeys with each other. Very nice people. All have families and none swear.

The SP is fantastic. I don't know if I'm ready to put an HL2 banner on it but it's awfully damned good. I got a good 8 or so hours out of it on a fairly thorough playthrough as a frame of reference.

Needs to grow. Not sure if that's going to happen. The MP is really fun if you get into good situations.

Up to you and your budget.

I understand the complaints and issues that had happened on the first game and why a lot of people are sore about that but I'm fairly confident that, by and large, if someone liked the first game they will like this at least as much if not more.

Single player is pretty good so far...enjoying it quite a bit.

Graphically, it doesn't seem as good as I've seen in some screenshots but I've got everything maxed. Are you guys using any sort of post-processing?

Also, is there a way to get rid of the film grain? I don't see any settings for it in the UI or configs.

EDIT: Also, it seems like I'm getting minor tearing even when using G-Sync...not sure what is going on there.

So far the single player is really good.

I played all of like 2 minutes in multiplayer and the lag sucked. I'll give it a shot later.

Mechs are all different speeds. Some rely on quickness and others shields and firepower. I like the way they move. I play mechwarrior too.

I'm gonna pick up the xbone version for $35 at least i know people will be playing for a while.
I'm going to pick up the XBONE version too to show support for the game. May even get the PS4 version.
Is your frame rate exceeding your monitors refresh rate? G-Sync will turn off when that happens and you will get tearing.
G-Sync doesn't "turn off." Syncing is no longer possible once the framerate exceeds the maximum refresh rate of the monitor if you have no V-Sync or framerate cap.

Yeah, that may be. I turned on Fast Sync afterwards and I think that alleviated it.

Didn't expect to see 144+ FPS in a new title these days I guess.

Hey man, I'm just going with what the Geforce website tells me.

"For enthusiasts, we’ve included a new advanced control option that enables G-SYNC to be disabled when the frame rate of a game exceeds the maximum refresh rate of the G-SYNC monitor. For instance, if your frame rate can reach 250 on a 144Hz monitor, the new option will disable G-SYNC once you exceed 144 frames per second. Doing so will disable G-SYNCs goodness and reintroduce tearing, which G-SYNC eliminates, but it will improve input latency ever so slightly in games that require lighting fast reactions."

Disabled / Turned off
Same diff. :p

Waiting till this game hits 20$ then I will bite. I find myself hardly playing MP and sticking to SP games. Based on reviews I think the SP will be worth it at 20$.

I got to a part where I can't run on the all and jump through a tiny hole and stopped playing due to frustration.

I might remember the area you're talking about. See if you get that option to show up where the "digital image" showing you to do something pops up. It was a PITA timing issue for sure.

He showed me exactly what to do and I still can't do it, lol.

Yeah, some of the jumps are pretty precise. I haven't gotten massively frustrated yet, but I do like that it requires a bit of skill to do, kind of a nice change from some of the easier games.

Not sure how far I am through the campaign...it seems close to the end but I'm hoping not because I don't think I've gotten anywhere close to 8 hours out of it.

I'm just past the part where BT-7274 gets a new chassis and you are about to go destroy the Ark.

You should have just played another 30 minutes.

You should have just played another 30 minutes.

I was done for the night, got stuck at a certain part.

If there's only 30 min left though, I have to say I'm disappointed. The campaign is cool for sure, but seems very short to me. I can kind of see the HL2 comparisons in terms of plot, but HL2 is way beyond this, IMO. This doesn't have any of the physics puzzles or massive open areas that HL2 had.

I'll give MP a go, but I can't help but feel like this was overhyped.

Now I feel bad for using force persuasion on you to buy it :(

Not a big deal. :) Like I said, I like the mechanics so I will give MP a try, but I will have to check my Origin game time because it feels like I've only been playing it a few hours and I'm almost done with the campaign already.

Campaign is very short but it's got replay value to me. I love that they hired this guy to play the titan:

I loved the first one, and picked this one up for 30 bucks. For how much I paid, it's a great deal! The multiplayer feels like a good blend between CoD MW (the decent ones) and Unreal Tournament. Bunch of crazy shit going on and plenty of things to kill, blow up, etc.

To expand on this - it's now called Fast Sync and it should be available in Nvidia Control Panel.

Just finished the campaign...as I suspected, it was much shorter than I hoped. 4 hours total for me on Regular difficulty (which honestly was kind of easy...I may try playing through again on Hard).

Very good campaign for sure, best out of CoD:IW and BF1 I imagine. Just wish there was about twice as much of it.

Definite sequel baiting at the end, I wonder if it'll happen...

I haven't touched TF2 in a week. I am having too much fun with BF1. It was a completely idiotic and arrogant decision to release this game at this time. It is such a great game but every day numbers are dwindling. Literally now there are only a few hundred playing the game in Europe (servers with best pings for me). It is tough to even find a game.

EA/Respawn shot themselves in the foot with this one. Game had a lot of potential. Discounted to half price within 3 weeks of release tells you something about this game's sales.

Realism should be checked at the door. The movement in the game is fast but not out of place once you accept it.

OK, might buy it, thx.

I bought this EA game that reminds me quite a bit of Mechwarrior2 but it still has a ways to go and is a bit rough around the edges.

Not only that, there is nothing more irritating than being repeatedly matched with the same group of retards who either don't know how to play or refuse to play as a team. With a proper server browser and dedicated servers I can simply migrate to another server, but with say Overwatch I have to quit and sit around twiddling my thumbs for 5 minutes before rejoining a game and even then more often that not I get matched with the same retards I was hoping to avoid.

That's why you play in a party?

I agree.

The timing far and away was the biggest disservice to/for this game, all told.

Q-BZ Here is the developer blog. So there is some paid DLC, but it is all cosmetic. They are going to have a Prime Titan for example, but it will have the same stats, loadouts, moves, etc. It's execution animation will be different and probably look more blinged out.

TitanFall 2 blog

Titanfall 2's first DLC drops next week with Angel City's Most Wanted. Eurogamer article.
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2...-drops-next-week-with-angel-citys-most-wanted

About that store: developer Respawn has been very adamant that the only add-on content that costs real world money will be purely cosmetic.

As such, the first paid DLCs will be for new skins, camo and Prime Titans. "We will have no in-game currency exchange. No locked loot boxes, crafting shards or pay-to-win weaponry. No RNG. If you see something you like, you buy it and that's it," Respawn said on the official Titanfall 2 blog. "These in no way effect stats and are purely cosmetic. We will have two Prime Titans available at launch. They have new chassis and assassinations but function the exact same way as their original counterparts."

"All maps, modes, weapons - anything that has effect on gameplay - will be free for all players that bought Titanfall 2. We believe that in order to maintain a healthy community we shouldn't be segmenting players behind paywalls for these things," the developer reiterated.

Played a couple matches of MP last night. It was...okay. As others have pointed out, trying to play anything other than Attrition seems to result in endless waiting for a match. Player counts seem extremely low.

The gameplay itself seems decent. I don't know if this was in the first game, but one shitty thing is that if you call down your Titan and then get killed, often you don't have enough time to respawn and make it back before it's been almost completely destroyed, even with the shield on drop perk. So basically you waste a Titan drop if you happen to get killed before you can get in it.

It's a real shame this thing got crammed in to release basically at the same time of BF1. EA always seems to surpass prior stupid levels. They should have sat on either this game or BF1's release and staggered their releases by at least a quarter.
