So I may have just burned a hole in my bedsheets with a butane lighter cuz I was cable sleeving some fans and got the lighter too close to the bed... OOPS....

What've you done? :D

Well, I don't mod my computer components while in bed. I can be sure of that. I don't think I've ever done anything drastic or even killed a part.

I am only allowed non flammable lubricants in my bed. Nor am I allowed any computer stuff in the bedroom.

You have too many freedoms. Fix that.

And stick to Astroglide, it is a non water-based lubricant so it won't short out your components :)

I still have a burn mark on my desk from a soldering iron.

I also once killed a motherboard because stupidly I was screwing in a fan while my system was on and the screwdriver slipped and bridged a couple of fan pins or something.

A few years back after building a brand new system with a i7 860 and 70gb SSD that I got from Intel Retail Edge, I tripped over a speaker wire and kicked over an open gallon jug of water into my open case. Glug glug glug. I pulled the power cord, picked up the case and poured out the water, used a towel to mop up as much as I could, then let it sit for a couple days before turning it back on. It worked fine and I just recently replaced those parts after six or seven years.

Have not done this personally but my friend attempted to remove the entire cpu retention bracket when installing..... We still make fun of him for it.

I closed my brand new laptop on a pen. One cracked screen later, I was able to find a replacement panel for $120 and do the replacement myself.

Removed the memory from my Intel NUC (forgot why) killed it and had to buy more.
Cut myself on a case (back when the cases had sharper edges).

That's about it.

I wasn't at risk of losing a finger, but I definitely lost some blood and flesh after using an air compressor to blow dust out of a case and then accidentally sticking a finger in the plastic fan blades. They were spinning god knows how fast and shattered on impact.
Have lost more than few fingernails to fans. At least we don't need those ones that could double as trolling motors any longer.

Stick your finger into a black-label Delta spinning at full tilt.
Having done so, I double-dog-dare you o_O
Thank God my penis wasn't anywhere near the damned thing!
