Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

It works on Windows 7. Its ugly, but it works.

I also have a working version of Diablo 1 on my cell phone via a Playstation 1 emulator.

played the new D1 levels last night, they made the graphics look like it was from years ago meaning was pretty blocky looking. Kinda fun but in a retro sort of way...

Yeah...it was made with the game engine

Then you didn't see it, because they made a CG promo for the necromancer.
They did their Diablo art. Then CG sequence. Then in game gameplay.
Even the still image for the video is a part of the CG sequence.

I'm actually having a bit of fun again with this game.

I skipped Season 7 entirely and most of season 6.

I've got a hardcore season 8 wizard if anyone wants to go down that path with me. Only had one real scare so far when I was doing a rift with random people and I had a full on 5 second lag spike.

I don't think I'll ever top my Season 3 Demon Hunter. Every item was ancient with as perfect of rolls as you could realistically get. Completely steam rolled T10 and I think I might have done Grift 55-60.

Fuck the person that came up with the kill Belial in 45 seconds challenge for the season journey. This is the first season I didn't roll a DH and apparently that's what you need to get it done. No matter what I do, I can't even start attacking the final phase with my WD before the 45 seconds are up, and that's with 2.1 million sheet damage. I haven't found anyone claiming to have done it solo with a WD. I tried with a random group last night (one Monk three Witch Doctors) and we never came close, even with grabbing shrines.

I finally caved last night and had a DH power leveled. Now it's the game of gathering and spending shards until it's geared. I'm all for a challenge but why the fuck they would make one where not every class can finish it is beyond me.

What's your WD build? I was running Jade (horrible single target DPS) and the missus was running HT (somewhat acceptable single target DPS) so we barely did the S7 requirements to kill bosses in a certain amount of time.

I'm currently using the Helltooth Garg build. I've changed all of my skills around to do the most damage possible which is is fine to kill everything, but the snakes in the beginning sequence are so spread out that it takes much too long to get them. If they weren't counted, or I think even if there wasn't a long transformation time between phase two and three, I wouldn't be having an issue.

I worked my way up from GR 70 to 75 with out failing once. GR75 is a conquest and I had no problems doing that, so I don't understand why this challenge needs to be so difficult. I'm pretty sure the only classes who can solo this are Monk and DH without some insane amount of paragons/augments.

Man that sucks.

I got the 45 second Belial done pretty quickly in the season. I wouldn't try to solo it. I was a WD - Helltooth Garg.
We had 2x DH's and 1x Monk. My basic thought process is that you need 2 people that have excellent AOE (like DH), and then 2 that to excellent single target DPS.

Burning down the snakes in the first round is AOE's job. And the single target DPS people are more responsible for phase two and phase three. Multishot as an example sucks at single target, so if you think that building a DH will help you solo this, I think you're mistaken. I don't think it's possible with less than 2 people. A full group makes it much faster. Some of it is luck as well. As the random nature of the snake spawns makes it so that sometimes one will get away and not get hit by a multi-shot dump, or for whatever reason the game will pause 1-2 seconds before it will spawn another snake. Those are all critical things that made it take longer for us to complete. But our group was at least seasoned enough to stick it out and know that those were potential problems and that it wasn't group composition or skill level.

It took our team of randoms about 7 tries. By the last try we figured out that we should go 100% dps builds and skip literally every defensive passive, and every defensive skill. So I dropped BBV for phase 2/3 which definitely sent us over the top and ran no defensive passives (adding on Pierce the Veil). All of those small things ended up counting. The DH's were running Mark of Death. Etc.

It also doesn't help that the gargs are still dumb and get confused/locked. Floating enemies are also a bitch to do anything with. Was running 4 man grifts last night against 2 elites, 1 was grotesques and the other floating angels and the angels lasted 3x longer than the grotesques. Both were blues. I think I have max AS, tasker in cube max AS on belt/gloves and it still seems to be forever slow. Ugh.

I really hate how there is one, barely 2 in some cases, super power build for most classes. Yeah WD now has Bats but that gameplay is horrible (same as gargs to me). I skipped the last two seasons hoping to come back to something fresh, nope, same ol just a different set that everyone runs. Kinda wish they woudl scrap sets and just make the varying bonuses single item leg based. That way you have limitless combinations to play with based on your play style.

The key with running team gRift with Garg is that you wait for your puller to gather up the mobs and then recast garg in the middle of it. Then with the Grave Injustice Passive you quickly reset the cooldown. If you don't have a puller monk then you'll have problems with mob grouping in higher level grift, so that would be a team composition problem. I found that on single target I'd out DPS the other WD running bats. And that with proper garg placement and management I'd have an equal chance of getting the kill on an elite as he would. Otherwise without doing this it's a crap shoot.

It's also important, as as note, to have a high amount of area damage. If you can exceed 100%, so much the better. It will make your 3 gargs and absolute monster in terms of taking down grouped up packs. Single AOE garg swings + area damage will cause trash mobs to plummet health.

Finally, if there are certain mobs that just have terrible affixes, they should be skipped. In higher level gRift, it's just not worth the time to deal with Rare mobs, or mobs that the team can't lock. You may as well move and drag them with you than stick around and trying to kill them.

Pubs are a mess these days in terms of trying to find functional run groups. Played the other day with 2 DH's and a Barb. That was fun...

Yeah i recast where I can but sometimes you just have no choice and wait. I hear you on skipping, If I see a freeze or shielding affix, I'm booking it to the next one.

Going to attempt max ladder runs this weekend solo, tired of noob pubs. Im currently at 75 for journey cleared with only have 2 ancient pieces and absolute horrid rings. We'll see.

Don't waste your time with pubs, join community groups. I ran pickup games with community group members that actually curate and create excellent groups.

GL on solos. I haven't played in a few weeks now, but I left off at 82 or something like that. Totally doable to get to 90+ on WD.

I'm not understanding these legendary gems. How do I obtain specific ones? I only have three that I can choose to upgrade, and they're kind of shitty.

no full story, but snippets of info from the first game... and a video filter and movement changes. Shouldn't take more than an hour or two, other than finding the missive to get the portal (info from PTR, might be off a bit).

I can't figure out how to get to the D1 portal. I tried in Story and Adventure mode and no portal at the location and the icon doesn't show on the map.
Is is it not out yet?

I just did a fresh install and don't think it is live yet. Patch notes are from August. Oh well I guess I'll be ready whenever it does happen.

I did it twice so far, an achievement is starting with a level 1 toon and completing the dungeons.

I have a full set of Level 1 gear that I used. I was at level 58 in just a few minutes.

Decent fun, I finished all but the 'start with a level 1' in a couple of hours.

Did season 9 start already?

Bah, I hoped to clear the last few uniques from the darkness event.

The 64 bit client is a bit laggy. Lots of people reporting frame drops - not sure if this is related to the banner they put up about latency and server issues.

It is nicer in some ways, DX11 and all, with a large cursor mode, as well as AA options (4x high/low, and 8x). The 32 bit client is unchanged (and I didn't have a stuttery mess like I did with the 64 bit version).
