Logitech G710 Mechanical Keyboard

Nice deal for a Logitech refurbished unit..I have purchased 5-8 refurbished items from Logitech and never had a problem..

I have the G710+, and it's a great KB...The only complaint I have is the left control key is a little bit frail feeling..Mine has been OK so far, but there are reports of it breaking easily but LT is aware and will ship you out a replacement with no fuss..

Good keyboard but for the life of me my brain can't get around the G Keys on the left getting in my way :(

While I appreciate all hot deals posts, this is not a hot deal. Best Buy has had this keyboard for $50-60 new numerous times and it will undoubtedly hit that price again over the next few months with BF coming up.

Also, this keyboard is extremely loud and more fatiguing than other Cherry MX switches.

It's still a small fraction of the msrp.
MSRP on this is at least $130, which is frankly just a pipe dream. MSRP isn't nearly as good an indicator of a hot deal than price history, and this keyboard has been sold new for $50 (which was a very hot deal). In fact, this exact refurb unit was only $60 on amazon less than two weeks ago. $70 new would be a warm deal, but not for a refurb, at least from my view.

the 710 is known for cheap key caps that break, I have the + version with mx browns and i can flick any number of keys and have the cap come off. wouldn't buy another. I did submit a ticket and got a new set from Logitech so when they actually start breaking I have replacements. I think I paid 85 bucks from BB on sale about 8 months ago.

Well I just got it in a few minutes ago. It is all plastic but feels quality. Keys feel great I don't notice anything wrong with the key caps. Maybe they break when taking then off or something.

Good refurbished condition. I'm satisfied. Spacing of the keys feels different though will have to get used to that.

I mainly got it because cheaper price and macro keys. Wanted macros.

It wasn't a good deal.. at all. But if you like it, it's all that matters. Good luck in 6 months when caps start breaking on you.

I doubt I'll have much trouble to be honest. I can't say for certain but my impression is that the Internet makes product defects seem more prevalent than they actually are. Caps feel fine to me and I won't be taking them off unless necessary, which is probably what is causing them to break.

I'm satisfied with the price I paid but I admit I didn't know they sold so cheap last year.

Although if anyone is worried about those issues there is the Corsair k70 refurbished that goes for 75. People seem to like that better but I wanted G keys and a product that works with Logitech software. I have the Logitech G600 so I figured this macro board would go well with it.

I'm not the only person that feels the same about these Logitechs/Corsair/Razer keyboards. The price tag they carry is not what the product is worth. Sure, you might like the board, but for that price, there are tons of better quality offerings.
The caps don't have to be removed for them to break. The plastic they use doesn't hold up well over time, and you'll see that stems will start fitting loosely, and even breaking at times. This is due to the paper-thin ABS plastic they use.

What board would you recommend at the $70 price point then?

If you mean the full msrp price well I understand people recommend the typing focused brands. But gaming focused products are almost universally substandard quality because too many ignorant gamers want pretty lights over reliability. If it wasn't for gaming exclusive features like 1440p 144hz monitors, Mmo buttons on mice, and macro keys I wouldn't be bothered with them either.

Brand new? This: Select Series - Full Size Blue Switch Mechanical Keyboard - Monoprice.com (If ISO doesn't bother you)

But for $70, I'd buy a used mech from FS/FT, or /r/MechMarket. I picked up a Das Keyboard with MX Blues
for $35 shipped the other day. The deals are to be had, you just have to look for them. :)

Or: https://www.amazon.com/Storm-QuickF...76211940&sr=1-11&keywords=mechanical+keyboard (If you don't need a 10 key)

Das Keyboard with Cherry MX Blues is still my favorite mech keyboard. I wish it had backlighting, but still my favorite of my 5 mech keyboards:
  • G710 w/ MX Blue switches
  • Rosewill Apollo w/ MX Brown switches
  • Monoprice Enthusiast w/ Oetemu Blue switches
  • Das Keyboard Professional S w/ MX Blue switches
  • Rapoo Black KX Wireless KB w/ Kaihl Yellow switches

I knew about the cm storm but I wanted volume control, backlight in, macros, etc.

My G710+ is probably 3/4 years old, I've removed all key caps 3 times for cleaning. 1 stem broke about 3 months ago, but instead of throwing it out,I just swapped an unused key cap in place of the broken R.

Quality is not that bad but definitely lacking

This reminds me of some certain car audio forums. "JBL, Pioneer, and Kicker suck get Sundown".

Meanwhile 99% of the market is not only satisfied with those brands, but are impressed by them.

Point is so far this keyboard kicks ass. If keys break well I'll have to see but I'll probly avoid taking them off.

If you have the 710 or 710+ and have keycaps break, create a ticket with Logitech and they will send you a new set.

How are you guys breaking key caps?

Do you slam your keyboards when you get fragged? Or do you type like a MG42?

I think the connecting plastic pieces are kind of weak and when removing keycaps they can weaken or break.

My first impressions are highly positive though. I love the minimalist white backlight, the media controls, the Windows lock, the G keys. Goes very nicely with my g600. The outer parts of the keycaps feel nice compared to the cheap keyboard I was using before. Much nicer.

Funny thing happened last night, my esc key broke, and I didn't even throw it that hard. this thing is 6 months old, glad I got a replacement set early on.

lol agreed, I heard the same complaints about the G710 before I bought it and used it for over a year without breaking any caps. Wife and I are both using G910s now and no issues, very happy with the keyboards.

I've owned/used mechanical keyboards from Corsair, G.Skill, Razer and they are all similar build quality with some minor material/aesthetic differences (aluminum baseplates), with the only major benefit I prefer on some other keyboards being the flush baseplate rather than a key "well". Flush baseplates make cleaning much easier with just a spray of air or quick vacuum while the "well" on Logitech makes them harder to clean. The major benefit in favor of Logitech keyboards and peripherals in general however is the much better gaming software, and one software controlling them all once you've bought into their ecosystem. The preference on switches and keycaps is going to vary person to person, but I really like the Romer-G switches and the concave keycaps on the original G910.

Only if you're in the warranty period, otherwise it's like $30 for new keys which is truly absurd.
