It's been pretty darn fun!

About shrines: I see that the devotion page says i have 48/50 points.. but there are certainly more than 2 more shrines i'll be able to unlock as I made sure to get every single one in Normal and Elite. Is my limit really only 50 points??

The current build.

My previous build was not working for me so I decided to go all in with the build I had somewhat been following.
Mainly changing up the devotions. I learned something interesting. If you have early signs for the points and later signs give you the same points then you can remove the early signs and reuse them. So that frees up the wheel and so forth.

I was heavy into fire which mostly worked well except not against the emberguards and fire spouters.
Now heavy into calidors tempest and the proc for agrivix malice.
Also discarded the praetorian set which gave seriously good defense.
Still need to tune things, my resistances are for shit.

Another note, you don't necessarily need the shrines. You can buy the extra 2 points from the crucible

Yes, the limit is really 50 points.

I did more shrines than 50 for good measure, which only gave me loot after 50 devotions.

Some of the shrines on ultimate requires some middle tier relics, so if you don't fancy giving up your crafting mats, you can always leave those and just do either the quest shrine or the shrines that requires cleansing.

I'll check my devotion later (at work right now), also, are you using Augments and Components? Some components (the Chain for example) are quite potent.

I've had to put on a shield to survive Ultimate on my own. This has allowed me to put points into Mehnir's Will, and this shield has a similar move as well..

So my heals are,

20% Chance When Hit - Wayward Soul

At health:
50% - Meat Wall
40% - Turtle Shell
33% - Menhir's Will
15% - Homebrew Potion (Alchemist's Belt)

And it's still not enough. Thinkin of picking up Overguard, anyone have any opinions on that move?

I use health leech stuff -
Caster - haunted steel for 8% + skill
Dread lords ring 7%
I had more at times (sword, ring, belt) but I am seeing if I can get by with just these.
The thing about shields is... they only block 1 to 2 attacks per second which don't help in a crowd.
If you have skills based on casting speed then you can spam the hell out of them to regenerate health (example callidors tempest)
All that health level crap IMO is not useful, seems like at times you die instantly
Better is to have your health not budge much except against the big enemies
Also, you want to be using scaled hide for armor absorption. the closer you can get it to 100% (from 70%) the more effective your armor will be.
That means if you have 800 armor helmet and get hit for 1000 pts of damage then you get 200 + .3 * 800 = 440 dmg.
With 95% you get 200 + .05 * 800 = 240 dmg which is a huge improvement

Thanks for the info mate! It really does help.

I've been wondering if these heals which trigger at %hp were considered good or not. They definitely help keep me alive during my Mirror CD, and as far as groups of guys--between the stun from Trozan's and Flash Freeze, I do alright there. It's typically bosses who one or two-shot me which is my issue.. and that indeed is probably a combination of Armor rating, absorb, and resists. The shield has seemed to help during boss fights, so i can plow on for now..

Does anyone know if there is a shield for a Trozan's build? (Cold/Lightening)

Also, jiminator--i too used to use the praetorian set--and really miss the survival since switching to the Eastern Set for buffing my Trozan's damage (which i really needed)

I finally installed this and am going to get around to putting some time into it. Had it since it was first released in alpha and never got to play it.

I think that points and stuff are permanent like D2, so I should use a guide to not ruin my characters?

stat points are permanent, skill points can be changed. you might want to use a guide just to give something to shoot for. Certain stats are required for gear so you want enough to survive with, use best in class items and everything else to damage enemies. You can always hold off on allocating the stats. Lots of people do until they are more familiar with the game

Also, I've heard that if you truly do screw up your character you can download the save file and respec things via trainer.

The points that are permanent are the stat points and the mastery points.

The points that are not permanent are Skills and Devotion, the spirit guide in Devil's Crossing will allow you to respec those. Skills only require iron bits, but Devotion also requires Aether shards (the small ones).

Trainers exist for Grim Dawn as well, I have only used it once to move my points in cunning into physique, otherwise I have not touched it.

I used my first few characters as test runs to get myself farmiliar with the game mechanics and see what kind of playstyles I like better, then I settled on an actual build, which I picked Vitality Caster, as the build seems to be at least weapon damage independent (IE you don't need both damage and stats on the weapon, just the stats since it's the spells that supply the damage), and good starting point due to the synergy (two debuffs have vitality resist debuff, which added together gives that nothing is immune to Vitality damage) and lack of gear requirement.

Soldier and Shaman were the two classes I tried deepest before settling on the char.

What is up with online in this game. I try to join a random's game and they ban immediately. Why make a public game without a password if you don't want to play with anyone.

That does sound stupid.

I've joined someone's game before, we ran an instance, it was friendly and cool, then i logged off.

Have you tried hosting? Does anyone ever join?

Sometimes. Usually someone will join if I stay in the game 30+ minutes. After being banned from 4 games immediately upon joining them I got into one and we had a great 4 man game.

I'm only into the early 30s in my first play through, but this is a pretty great ARPG. Very well done. I can't think of anything I'd complain about.

That was my opinion as well. For such a cheaper game, it's very deep with the right mechanics and feature rich as well.

Any recommendations on a Warder build? I am doing 2H right now but want to mix things up, so throw some suggestions/builds at me!

I'd go to the Grim Dawn forums for that kinda thing. You'll find a lot more people with experience in varied builds. Myself, for instance, I only have on character, a Battlemage (who has hit a brick wall in ultimate, sadly), so i can't help you at all!

I'm going to bump this thread with my 3000th post because this game is awesome.

Now, go play!!

I haven't played in a few weeks... mainly just RL getting in the way, but also cause I basically had to dial back to Nightmare to farm gear.. getting my ass handed to me in Ultimate.. for those of you who asked about survivability with my Battlemage, it was great until the final difficulty! Could be my build too.

I really need to find a shield which is applicable to my build.

I'm not doing anything right now, i can help you farm if you want.

I ended up dumping a lot of points into soldier for the aura. The mastery points and aura itself have helped a great deal with surviving. Unfortunately I believe my build just isn't many for a battle mage, sadly. Trozans seems to be for shaman/arcanist or nightblade/arcanist, so I'm thinking I'll have to use a trainer before long

Bump :)
Does anyone have Rampage Blueprint for trade/sale/giveaway?
I've been looking for it everywhere, getting depressed :/

Grim Dawn is 50% off this weekend! (only $12.50)

Figured I'd bump this thread with the latest patch info:

Constellation trees.
http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53209

These Constellations will be coming with Grim Dawn’s expansion as new Tier 3 options, along with 9 other all-new Constellations. What powers do you think these divine beings have in store for you?

Like knowing what is coming up next for Grim Dawn? Check back on 05/01/2017 for our next development update!

I asked in teh Steam forums if Wolcen is good as Grim Dawn it's a good comparison.

I haven't played Wolcen in a LONG time. Last time I fired it up it was so buggy and pure Early Access. I wonder what state it is in today?

Backed Wolcen but haven't played it. It does look pretty, at a glance I think it looks better than Grim Dawn.
I'm hoping they take their time with it and by the time I get tired of Grim Dawn expansion they will be closer to release.
