Is it worth buying the PG279Q now?

Hello.
I am planning on buying a 1440p@144hz monitor, and i got my eyes on the Asus PG279Q. The thing is, i am not sure if this screen is outdated as it was released a year ago. I cant live with the feeling that they are going to release a new model soon.

So, what do you think, is it possible they are going to release a new 1440p@144hz monitor soon, or should i just go for the PG279Q?

Thank you!

I have had said monitor although i do not recall which rev it was. It had problems with pixel shift where it takes a whole row of pixels out of the center of the screen and moves them to the right or left side.

Link above demonstrates the problem. I think there are promising alternatives on the horizon so unless you have no other Option I would recommend waiting. Its a lot of money to plunk down on something that is so very much lacking in the QC dept.

that's pretty bad. I had PG279Q and sold it here never had that problem. I guess I got lucky and the guy who bought it is really lucky.

I have no idea what's coming out for the rest of this year. Is there anything else coming out?

This seems to be the favorite default even with the myriad of issues.

Ok, thanks for your answers.
Im getting a pc with a gtx 1070 next week and i have no idea if i should buy a monitor now or not. Currently i have an old 1080@60hz that makes no sense to have with an 1070.

They demonstrated a 32" 27" 2160p144 G-Sync monitor a few months back, but I don't know if it's due for release this year and it probably doesn't replace the PG279Q.

800 dollars is a lot of money I bought a MG279Q for 489 a few days ago and I am pretty happy with it Gsync isn't to important since I am always 120 fps or capping at 144 but I am running a 1080 with a waterblock.

My screen was made in March 2016 and I have no bleeding but I do have glow which is expected I am super happy about my monitor.

Did it come with a punctuation set? The guy is asking about pg279q not some peasant freesync version.:p

What did you buy to succeed/replaec the PG279Q that you had?

I bought the PG348Q since I was building a new system anyways. If I had a choice or money wasn't a problem, I would've kept the PG279Q.

Very nice.:) How does it scale to 1080p or lower? I always play at 1080p/720p BF, CS and OW for better aim etc. on my 2k monitors.

Honestly I never tried to go lower than native resolution. There's some games that wouldn't run on 3440x1440 and would show a side black bars which annoys me. But yea, I never actually thought of running 1080p or lower. Sorry.

Please check it for when you a moment. Is it going to be stretched or black bars? Thanks.:)

Thank you man :)

I used to get that issue on MG279Q as well! Made me so mad

Switched to this cable and it seemed to fix the issue:
https://www.amazon.com/Accell-B142C-010B-UltraAV-DisplayPort-Latches/dp/B0098HVXVQ

However, every time I play Unreal Tournament (the new free alpha one) I get that weird line down the screen.
It used to happen every time I alt tabbed in/out of a game. Now only Unreal Tournament, which I stopped playing

I think it's a panel issue? pg279q might have same panel as MG279Q
