Manual Overclocking On A Asus Sabertooth Z170S - Am I Missing Something?

I can't find the manual CPU multiplier on this mobo, even in advanced settings in the BIOS. My Gigabyte Z170 was clear as day. Is it named something else on the Asus board? All I see is some auto overclocking stuff which I want to choose the CPU speed manually myself. Where do I find the multiplier on this board? CPU is a 6700K BTW.

Does the "S" denote a board of more economic cost? Maybe they are missing because of that.

Hmmm I don't know, I hope not. I picked it up last night short on time with no time to research boards since my Gigabyte board shut down and went into a continuous reboot loop and wouldn't go past the bios screen no matter what. I told the tech a Microcenter I needed a good overclocking board for a unlocked 6700 "K" series CPU and anything other than Gigabyte, lol, and this is the board he recommended. The new Asus mobo fixed the PC and I didn't want another Gigabyte again and from my work to the store was 2hrs so I had to get there before they closed so again, I had no time to go online and research.... This would be a bummer if the S in the model name means it's a watered down version.....sigh....

It's not the end of the world if the BIOS is indeed missing the option. You can always fall back on XTU to change multipliers in a pinch. It would be rather odd for a Sabertooth board to not have something like that though because of the marketing associated with the name of the product line implying overclocking and such. Stranger things have happened though.

I'm running an EVGA 750 watt gold rated psu (at work right so I don't have exact model number). I couldn't even find the cpu ratio. It has to have it because this board was almost $200.00.... my Gigabyte was so much more straight forward.... and if my Gigabyte had manual overlocking at $60 cheaper price, this this thing has to have it....hmmm.

Truth be told though, where I'm running at 4k res, I can't even tell a difference running the cpu at stock speeds. The video card overlocking helps me much more at 4k...

I believe it's called CPU core ratio unless I'm wrong. Second pic: Review: Asus Z170S Sabertooth - Mainboard - HEXUS.net - Page 2

Ok I'm home now, I tried that already and when I try to adjust the CPU ratio nothing happens. :( And yes, it's a K processor, had it overclocked on my Gigabyte board. I'm on the phone with Asus tech support now. This board doesn't make any sense. Been overclocking since the Abit BE6-II/Coppermine days..... Shocked I'm having problems....

OMG I have this lady of Indian accent (not surprising) that's dumber than a box of rocks.... I could get better tech support and a more intelligent conversation from a tree! Gah,,,, So much from tech support from the actual company! Ok guys, if I take this board back, what's the best overclocking board for a 6700k that's not a Asus or Gigabyte board? MSI? I miss Abit.... :(

Here's what it was.... with the selections above the CPU core ratio having drop down menus when you click on them with a mouse I was expecting something to happen when selecting the CPU core ratio when it says "auto" there was no indication that you could change it. It didn't highlight, it didn't blank out where it said auto letting you know you could type something there or no drop down menu. So once you click on it, you can type the number of the ratio you want, lol. It was really that simple, yet so stupid at the same time. I tried downgrading the bios beforehand and everything, lol.

I'm 1000% sure that watching a YouTube video or actually reading the damn manual would have avoided all of this.

I will partially admit to being a little lost the first time I used one of them there fancy UEFI BIOS thingies. Using a mouse in a BIOS is pure heresy!!!

The thing is when you clicked on it there was no indication that you could change it just like a greyed out button in Windows where the button is there, but it's greyed out and can't click it. All the other settings that said Auto had a drop down menu.... The CPU ratio didn't highlight or anything...don't even remember pressing the pageup/down having any effect. The part where you enter the ratio number where it says Auto could of at least blanked out letting you know you could type something there. I don't remember the manual stating this or did I see any Youtube videos that showed this. I guess you could say "EBKAC" but I've been overclocking since the Abit BE6-II/Coppermine days and never ran into any confusion like this and my last board was a UEFI BIOS.... had this very CPU overclocked with no problem on the Gigabyte I just replaced. I blame the Asus interface for the confusion. At least let the selection get highlighted when you click it or have a drop down menu with different ratios you can select, if not, they should have where it says "Auto" blank out letting you know you can type there. I can only take half the blame on this, Asus's interface was at least half to blame (I fully blame it). The companies own tech support was clueless....

There is an ASUS rep thread around here somewhere. Maybe you can relay to him about the shortcomings. They don't know if no one tells them I guess.
