iPhone 7 Plus 2,717 Foot Drop Test

Seems like they are dropping it from way too high. The phone probably hits terminal velocity pretty quickly.

This is why Americans get caned in foreign countries.

What if he had killed the cousin of some high ranking official and they recovered his video of him planning the "Terror Attack" in advance? We would have him plastered all over CNN like a missing child on a carton of milk if they threw him in jail. Hell the phone could be lodged into some child's skull for all we know.

He's a freaking idiot for doing a stunt like that!

We have no extradition treaty with Dubai, so if they find a phone stuck in the head of a dead guy in some alley, he should be okay. Then again our country as of late seems to not mind throwing it's people to the wolves.

I saw this headline and thought of TechRax immediately. Surprised he didn't throw a 2-liter bottle of Coke after tossing the iPhone.

eh he'll be fine, the administration will just squander away millions (billions???) of tax payer dollars to try to make the problem go away

I see you guys are all assuming this was not a planned stunt. Guess we should just change the forums to [A]ssume forums instead?

He should have been streaming video from the phone to youtube or something. Do it again!

How would you plan this? What building manager would approve such a stunt for some idiot's youtube channel?

Watch a free episode of Mythbusters on YouTube and then I bet you will be able to understand.

This is dumb/dangerous. But if you're going to do it, why not live stream it to FB? At least you'd have the fall on video.

Perhaps they arnt Face Book users. Not everybody uses Face Book. Especially for simply watching a video.

Probably because you'd want to be out of the country before letting anyone know you've broken the law.

I disagree. The phone should have been properly recycled or donated to the needy.

recycled? you mean sent to some half ass 3rd world country to sit in their dumps instead of ours? lol theres no such thing as "properly recycled" electronics in this country because there's zero profit in it.

instead of wasting these iphone breakable tests, please give me the phone, I want one, but too expensive for now.

Everything I've seen on Mythbusters has to be approved by all sorts of safety experts and local codes. Show me the episode of mythbusters of them throwing phones off a 100 story building with people walking around it ground level.

From wikipedia, you can see that they only experiment in safe controlled locations: "Tests are sometimes confined to the workshop, but often require the teams to be outside. Much of the outdoor testing during early seasons took place in the parking lot of M5, and occasionally M6 and M7. A cargo container in the M7 parking lot commonly serves as an isolation room for dangerous myths, with the experiment being triggered from outside. However, budget increases have permitted more frequent travel to other locations in San Francisco and around the Bay Area. Common filming locations around the Bay Area include decommissioned (closed) military facilities (such as Naval Air Station Alameda, Naval Air Station Moffett Field, Concord Naval Weapons Station, Naval Station Treasure Island, Marin Headlands, Hunters Point Naval Shipyard, Mare Island Naval Shipyard, Hamilton Air Force Base, and abandoned base housing at Marina, California's former Fort Ord), and the Alameda County Sheriff's facility in Dublin, California, especially the firing range, Emergency Vehicles Operation Course (EVOC), and bomb range. Occasionally, mainly for special episodes, production is out of state, or even out of the country."

They're regulars on YouTube. They have Facebook and again, doing this would allow them to transfer the video to YouTube at a later date.

They could upload it to a private FB account (for that matter, I think you can restrict the audience to just yourself).

Just do what I do whenever I see one of these *insert random idiot* destroys *insert random product* by *insert random method* links. Don't click it. Then *insert random idiot* doesn't get any money from link clicks and ends up losing money for his stupidity.
