Blindly? How can you say blindly when CIG is more open about the development process than most other developers? I probably would have lost interest too if they gave us nothing to show for, but they frequently show us that the game is coming together nicely. 3.0 will be a huge leap, and once all the mechanics are in place they will just need to create content, which is a breeze for them. Squadron 42, which should be out by later this year/early next year, will be a good indicator for how the core gameplay will be for Star Citizen.

What makes you think fans are blindly following the game? Have you been keeping up on the game since you lost interest?
This isn't open development, open development would mean we'd have access to financials as promised in the older TOS and would be able to see software development issue tracking systems as well as project plans. All CIG does is release marketing materials.

Gotta love how people convince themselves of the conspiracy theories they create in their minds. Next they'll tell us how they're spending the money on luxury yachts.

:D

P.S: Just because you have not experienced it does not mean the devs aren't working closely with the fans and revealing their plans. There are things called NDAs that you enter into when working with the devs in that fashion. I could say more but well...that's what NDAs are for ;)

You can't buy much of a luxury yacht with the kind of money they have. :p They'd have to have bought the yacht( s ) before paying for office facilities, hiring people, and actually starting the project. If they're scamming everyone, they're doing a pretty bad job of it. :D

ATV 3.8 Frankfurt studio update, modular satellites/planetary location buildings early WIP details as well as a deeper dive into the vision stabilization system. The only other game that has managed to do it has been Arma

Initial iteration of buildings we'll see in 3.0, small research facilities/habitats

Looking forward to 3.0, hopefully they can stabilize the servers a bit, 2.5 has a lot of lag / drop outs.

Wow, that rigging description and demo is incredible. The recoil in hand matching the shadow is very cool, excitement level rising!

I think they are just available in game for a week- fly them both and vote for your favorite.

It's a real shame that Mass Effect Andromeda characters are not going to look anywhere near as good. Let alone animations...

Yes they are already on your account ready to fly

how? im not showing this on the order page. i have already commited to several packages, would do $45 to get 2-3 more ships.
Oh I see my wording could be interpreted as them giving them as a free purchase (oxymoron). Sorry. They are just unlocked for every backer to try until next Friday, just spawn in Crusader and the ship will be available there to fly.

The voting for the one you like most is optional.

M50 improved entry animations

Interesting, I'm curious what he is running from or after :p I'm also surprised they didn't fix the clipping on the left hand when its pulled through the frame into the cockpit.
Looks good overall though.

This will be the CitizenCon presentation
(V2 planets is the next iteration of the planetary tech we saw in the GamesCom demo)

Sean [Tracy] is working hard on it with a bunch of talented people, so that's [how] we're showing off the potential of V2 planets and some of the cool stuff and play action that can happen in 3.0. We're […] taking one of the missions that's in Squadron 42 and showing how that would feel, from the briefing, to the ship, to taking off, to the mission, and the combination of flying and FPS stuff, so those are the two things we're going to show. We're going to show full-focus this is what V2 planets can do for you, then this is what Squadron 42 is going to feel like and play like, and this is the experience of a mission in SQ42.

"This is the first time we will show more complete gameplay. We showed last year at CitizenCon the walking around, talking character stuff, but it was very early. Our character tech has come on -- if you look at that and quality of characters compared to last year, it's night and day. I truly feel like our character stuff that we're showing is best in class at the moment. We're going to show a more complete: Here you are, you wake up on the ship, you get your briefing, do your mission. This is what one sequence of events, or what we call 'chapters,' of the game would feel and look like.”

Nice

Part2 of the Gamersnexus interview with CR
Chris Roberts on Character Tech, Weather System, & Engine Architecture

- Heliocentric solar systems, planets rotate around the sun/stars and don't cheat like in other games where the sun is actually what moves. Which leads to;
- Real day and night cycles, planets rotate on their own axis. Which leads to;
- Dynamic heat maps that control planetary weather patterns (which will also affect atmospheric flight).

Next part will be talking with Sean Tracy technical director

And if you haven't heard the "New naked male" meme, all I will say is I warned you lol

And the remix

While I would really love to see SC succeed, one does have to step back and sort of take in the big picture...

At what point does the inability to publically set and meet a project release deadline of an actual commercial game begin to become a thing?

The feature creep and continual expansion of scope will eventually sink this ship. The can has been kicked so long, hard and far down the road that it no longer resembles a can, but more a ragged amorphous blob of shapeless tin at this point.

Eventually the funding will slow down as more and more backers begin to weary of the never ending ride and the "we are still working it and it's going to be great" mantra becomes too stale to swallow any longer.

While what has been shown looks nice, I can't help but feel that a viable, functioning game is still nowhere in sight as Roberts and company continually pump out eye candy and marketing goods to keep the revenue support stream alive.

I can't help but feel like the entire thing is a well intentioned science project gone wrong... where funding without accountability is taking place. There is much neat art being pumped out as well as bits and pieces of gaming specific tech, but I have yet to see any real cohesive game play mechanics or a game infrastructure being demonstrated as to how this will turn into something I'd actually want to play. Flying a ship and running around in a FPS space station themed environment blasting things have all been done many times before... I can't help but feel that the end result (circa late 2018) will be more a great looking and highly complex, souless tech demo that showcases some really cool art then a real, viable game that I'd actually want to play.

Really hope it works out for all the backers in the end, but I never drank the kool-aid and remain a skeptic.

The main problem would be tying all the aspects into something actually fun. Decent missions, goals that aren't too repetitive, and variety. The single player will likely be decent or even great. I think depending on how well that turns out will either instill confidence in Star Citizen as a whole or tear it down. The SP portion of the game will likely be easier to accomplish, which is why it is slated for release first.

This right there reflects exactly my thoughts on this project. Feature creep can be the slow death of many a project. I would like to see this be successful, but I'm close to being a skeptic.

Sup fellas...So, I'm a total noob at this game. I bought the Aurora LN package a while ago so I could at least get the game with the free single player add on. I've played a few times on the vanduul swarm and have enjoyed it a little bit. that being said, I watched some you tube videos with ppl using voice attack and dual sticks and my god, that has got me wanting to play this game again! wondering how many of you guys use voice attack and hotas/dual sticks? I also want to install an HCS pack but can't decide between Kate and Astra. They both sound awesome and seem like my kind of chick to roll with in a dog fight! =)

I use dual sticks to fly. I used to use voice attack until they changed the key binds and I built a new computer within a month of each other. Been too lazy to make a new profile. Tempted to pick up a HCS pack so I can be lazy.

i have a hotas setup that really makes flying / killing easy. Most of my XP came from elite dangerous though but it's very easy to pick up IMO. If you play any type of space sim, i recommend hotas.

going to try voice attack and a hcs pack and then get used to it along with mouse and KB. I also have an Xbox one controller I will try before sinking money into a hotas or dual flight stick. I do like the immersion so I will see what suits me the best

Mouse and Keyboard take some getting used to for flight if you have used a stick or controller before. They are great for the FPS and Turret work though but flight while function has a bit of a learning adjustment to your mind. I want a HOTAS but cannot afford it right now. Would rather get some ships down the road. I need to dig out my Cyborg Evo and see how it works but...

I stopped using the stick actively as the 360 controller was so much more comfortable for long sessions as I can rest my arms on the arm tests and in my lap so its very relaxing. In a fight though, while it is well mapped you will get eaten by someone skilled with a HOTAS. Duel sticks can be more even depending on how well they know their set up but the amount of keys you actively need makes the HOTAS superior and smoother than the Mouse / Keyboard IF dog fighting is your main stay to the game.

I'm going more for Exploration / Cargo and minor fighting so I will ride it out and see how it goes down the road. Would rather work towards a Carrack vs new control schemes right now. If you are into fighting though definitely get the right setup to maximize your fun!

Interesting episode. Loved most of it but am on the fence about the Speed nerf. I agree that some ships seem way to damn fast sliding all over the place. But that also makes it kinda fun as various ships either have to slow down or use that speed. However sliding all over can be an advantage for less maneuverable ships to just pivot around. I do think that some alignment of which ships get to be super fast and balanced out should happen. Was annoyed to see racing ships with more firepower than exploration and such.

Overall looking good though.

Many ships are getting huge cruise speed increases (I can't be too specific but for example the Constellation is more than doubling its current 425m/s cruise speed).

Sounds interesting, still wary but once its live we'll see how it plays out.
