No. Technology did not almost kill this guy. In fact, this guy just described the job we have been doing around here twelve hours a day for over sixteen years. Sure we all need a break from tech every now and then but trying to make it sound like technology is killing you is a bit absurd. Also, this picture is supposed to make you sad.

A year before, like many addicts, I had sensed a personal crash coming. For a decade and a half, I’d been a web obsessive, publishing blog posts multiple times a day, seven days a week, and ultimately corralling a team that curated the web every 20 minutes during peak hours. Each morning began with a full immersion in the stream of internet consciousness and news, jumping from site to site, tweet to tweet, breaking news story to hottest take, scanning countless images and videos, catching up with multiple memes.

I was sitting in a large meditation hall in a converted novitiate in central Massachusetts when I reached into my pocket for my iPhone.

aaaaaanddd end scene. That's all I need to know.

Let me guess you spent a lot of time on the computer blogging only to realize you aren't that important and that if you go outside no one will immediately miss you. Gee what a revelation.

You don't need to meditate. Have a beer. It's easier.

Argh, way too long to read. That guy should write fiction with sad characters. He's got that nailed down pat.

Tech has almost killed me a few times now. People in their cars using it anyway.

I mean sure, smart phones are all ergonomic trash and require more attention to use than a car. Maybe, just maybe, the driver is at fault?

If you feel a device is overwhelming your life put it the frick down and step away from it for a few hours and discover the sun.

There are some people that can handle absorbing that much content, and filtering it properly. The writer could not.
