iPhone 7

Only time I've ever used the headphone jack on my phone is when working out. I've never charged my phone while working out. So, an iPhone (or any phone) sans headphone jack is inconsequential to me.

My boss wants me back with an iPhone, so if she approves the purchase order for a 128GB 7 Plus, I'll get it. Ain't no way I'm dropping $870 on a fucking cell phone.

Who did you place your order with?

Just placed 4 myself

3 7 and 1 7+. the 7's should arrive on the 16th and the 7+ should arrive on the 23rd.

Also have the watch series 2 coming which is estimated Oct 17

I'll just leave this here:

The iPhone 7 is the walled-off computer Apple has always wanted

Man...I didn't even think about the screw job Apple did to all the people/companies who created devices that communicate using the 3.5mm jack.
They said the Beats brand was about sound quality.

They're idiots.

But, to humor you, I'm not excited about losing the headphone jack, but it was eventually going to happen...its just happening sooner rather than later.

No, she did it around 8am.

Ah. Crazy what 8 hours does.

On the subject of Beats, they're such crap headphones. Weighted down to make them feel like they are made with quality. My $15 airport headphones sound the same as their $100 earbuds

I don't even want this phone but the $650 trade in value for our iphone 6 phones made this a no brainer. Upgraded via Verizon today. Still pissed about the headphone jack. Maybe someone can figure out how to sell an iphone 7 and still get the trade in credits. I'd rather have the new google pixel phone if it has a headphone jack.

I'm upgrading on T-Mobile just to see if I can switch from Android, and resell later. Wife has a 6 I'll trade in for mine on T-Mobile, and pay the $200 for the plus 128 model. She's getting her 7 from verizon, subsidized but without contract, then immediately cancelling and moving over to my account.

The lack of headphone jack sucks, because my car only has BT for calls, not audio. I have an Aux for music, and I use my phone for nav, so I need it on the charger. Looking to get one of those adapter/splitter/bullshit dongles, I guess.

How do you get subsidized pricing without a contract? They usually extend your contract if you use that upgrade FYI.

T-Mo has no *plan* contracts. Only phone. So you can get a "subsidized" phone ... as in you pay more than the value of the phone over the life of it, and pay it off per month.

Unless entropism is on a legacy plan from when T-Mo still did that ?

I'm going to try to trade in with either Apple or ATT, but right now neither want to give much for a 6S+, I'd get way more on the used market.

I'm not worried about audio quality at all, just compatibility. They just made the phone effectively useless in cars without BT media streaming available, as now you have to choose between murdering your battery while navigating and listening to audio through the car, or keep the phone charged while navigating and not being able to listen to anything from your phone through the car.

Not a huge deal to me, but would be a moderate annoyance as that's a real world scenario for me sometimes. Unless there's going to be a split-Y adapter with a lightning pass-through and an aux port coming off of it? Wonder if that's possible.
Bluetooth aside, please don't forget that not all car audio sys has 3.5mm aux input.

Are you referring to the Jump program?

Its essentially a lease, is it not?

No I am not. That is another program. I don't recall what it is called. But you can finance phones thru T-Mo basically.

Sorry, just seeing this now. She's on a federal/corporate plan. Subsidized pricing every 10 months, no contract. It's a great perk, but up until last year it was $10/month for unlimited everything, and free replacements if the phone was lost/stolen/damaged, since her job involves letting people handle her phone. They just raised the price to $70/month and she pays the insurance deductible. Considering her coworkers CONSTANTLY have their phones dropped/stolen, we noped out of that shit and she's jumping over with me to T-Mobile as soon as she gets her new device.

I'm getting the idea if I want to go black I should avoid jet black because it's a smudge and scratch magnet.

True or false?

From the screenshots, I like what they've done though. Addresses a lot of things that bugged me for a while in iOS.

Generally false since most people put their phones in a case.

Yeah I went with matte black. Scratches will make it harder to resell later (nearly all of my electronics end up being resold at some point so it's a definite consideration).

I know this is early so not that many products are out yet. All third party battery cases listed so far for the iPhone 7/7 plus would kill the ability to use the lightning earpods and adapter cause most of them are charged with MicroUSB. (I think I found one using Type-C, but I can't confirm from the picture.)

It would be cool if a battery case manufacturer integrates a 3.5mm adapter from the side perhaps.

Sucks that FedEx has to hold the phones until Friday. Mine's just sitting at the local facility collecting dust.

That Jet black looks nice. Fiber cloth should come with that jet black edition lol. You gonna need that every time you use your phone :D. Does Jet black sells 128gb version? or just 256gb?

I had that problem when I was using Note 5, its freaking ridiculous. Every other time I pull the phone out of pocket, I was wiping the back with my cloth.

I wonder why can't they just do the same coating with the glass but for the back too.... It's dumb....

Sorry, Fiber Cloth for the Jet Black is a $25 accessory at the Apple Store...

In all seriousness, I am an Android fan but I cannot wait to get my iPhone 7+ in at the end of the month (was not able to preorder on launch day, so my delivery date is end of the month). I may hit up a Verizon store or 2 to see if they have any stock left tomorrow around lunch time.

It's not the first time an Apple update borked a connection but they are usually quick to fix it.

The surface of the Jet Black can likely be polished/buffed back to new condition just as easily as it might get scratched. People will just need the correct buffing compound and that shouldn't be hard to figure out. I don't see this as being a big issue unless people really beat on the phones.

True! Even without buffing I don't think it will be a huge trouble if it gets a few scratches after rough use!

Got my matte black. I like it. Cool phone, nothing revolutionary by any means. The new home button takes some getting used to, the first time I clicked it I was like WHAT IS THIS STRANGE FEELING

Brightness is better, the color shows some improvement but it's not huge. Camera is WAY better than my 6, especially in low light. I despise flash, so it's nice to be able to take a picture in a room that isn't super well lit without having to use flash for once.

I don't do a hell of a whole lot with my phone, so to say it's "faster" - I'm sure it's much faster from the specs I read but I haven't done anything that was like "wow, that was quick!" compared to a previous phone

This is gonna sound silly, but I wish the matte black version came in a black box. I might end up getting a Jet Black version, we'll see.

I got the trade-in deal from Tmobile and now own an orphaned iPhone 7- so I popped out the sim from my Androd and tried out the iPhone 7- it's actually pretty great. The 3D touch is to smartphones what right-clicking is on a PC. Once you have and use it- it's amazing. I think I'll keep using the iPhone for awhile- iOS 10 brings a lot more data to the surface without needing to load up a zillion apps to see what you're doing today, what the weather forecast is, etc. A welcome change.

Honestly, I don't think I've used 3D Touch since I got my 6S Plus. They are trying to integrate it more with iOS 10, but it still isn't all that useful IMO.

The directions are wrong, should be "Software Update" instead of "about". He must use an Android phone :p
No he wasnt wrong... Its a carrier update pack that fix's it & hitting the about prompts the update.

Just got my Jet Black, I have to say the quality control this time is a lot worse than 6S.

Almost every iPhone 7 that I have seen have horrible yellow tint. I don't mind the tint as long as it can be adjusted, but it's uneven tint throughout the screen that cannot be fixed.

Looks like my iPhone 7 will be going back to store until they short the problems out.

The screen itself is closer to 6500k-6800k rather than 7200k (iphone 6s/6s+), so will appear warmer in general if you're comparing. If it really bothers you, you can adjust the color hue (Yellow Screen on iPhone 7? Here’s the Fix!) and "fix" it.

Supposedly this could also be a software issue dealing w/ the first batch of phones. I'm more inclined to believe this is intended due to the white point for their more accurate color reproduction (DCI-P3 & D65 standard). We are just use to seeing a cooler screen so it looks funky when we see a warmer screen. DisplayMate looks to have kindof explained this iPhone 7 Display Technology Shoot-Out

I understand that, but the problem is the tint is uneven. This isn't about basic color temperature settings anymore. It's simply something is fucked up with display that caused the tint since it's not the entire screen are yellow evenly.
All the photo online that you can find with yellow tint issues on iPhone 7, they all have the same problem with bottom part of the screen have heavy yellow tint compare to any other area, and left side is slightly more yellow to the right.

Also, changing the color filter doesn't really fix the problem properly. It just make the white more cooler and screwed up other colors at the same time.
