ReCore

I've been watching it because Armature Studio is behind the game, which was established by the original founders of Retro Studios (developer of the Metroid Prime series). Nice to hear it's coming to PC, but disappointed it appears to only be for Windows 10.

Just found out about this game it's on PC to probably in X-box marketplace.
It's made by team who made Metroid Prime. Available September 13 - 2016

really looks like it might be fun- I'm getting a bit of a Borderlands feel to it from the art and somehow from the combat. That's a good thing.

Whoah, what? Interest level just spiked.

I think I like the potential more that what we've seen. It kinda looks like a ton of other games only in a different setting. Yet I trust the developer and if it's done well I'm not sure it matters.

Game reminds me of Firefall the MMO with some Destiny added except it's in 3rd person.

You have to launch the Microsoft Store. Click your avatar next to your name in the top-right and click on Library. It should be in there once you preorder it either through the Xbox ONE or PC. Of course it won't show up until Microsoft either offers it for preload or the game is released.

My interest has piqued.

I'm going to debate on pre-ordering this for the free win10 copy, like with forza horizon 3.

For what it's worth, you don't have to preorder to take advantage of Xbox Play Anywhere titles. But you do have to buy it digitally directly from Microsoft.

I take it this won't unlock until the stupid store updates tomorrow morning...

Some reviews just didn't like the game. Might want to watch 10 minutes of a Twitch stream to see if it's your cup of tea.

Usually with games it's the user and not the game sometimes it's the game. I mean if you play games all the time you are going to get burnout.

Karak's review is pretty good

The game doesn't seem terrible, just kinda bleh. Those load times are atrocious though. The frame rate looks like a mess in during parts of the review too.

I'm currently downloading the game while I leave to work. Can't wait to go home and play the game. Has anyone already played it?

I haven't downloaded it, yet. I need to make some room on my SSD first.

A demo / 30 minute trial was released onto the Windows Store today and a performance patch. I never saw a loading screen in the free demo and it was DX12 / Mantle smooth! I did have a few stutters in a cut scene, but I was more engrossed in the story and visuals than the slight stutter. During game play there was zero stutter or frame drops!

This game is fun as hell! Rewards you for exploring which I always like. Shooting is on rails as in you go to the green marker on the screen and clear the area. What I really like is that you can explore off the beaten patch and find upgrades, audio logs, and seemingly trip extra enemy events, etc. Upgraded my puppy with some cool red legs. He's a beast charging enemies that I have stunned with my charge shot.

Graphically it is very pleasing to my eyes. Crisp character models and plenty of debris and weather effects makes the game world believable. The main character's eyes look fabulous in a very anime way. Saw some effects that mimicked Nvidia's PhysX library like really awesome cloth physics. I was on a planet with an incoming radiation storm so I'd say that the visuals fit the game like a glove. I was impressed for what is essentially an Indie title.

Audio sounded very nice on my cheap Dayton Audio bookshelf speakers, Monoprice DAC, and T-Amp combo. Explosions sounded good to me!

Honestly I don't see how someone could really hate on this game. A little platforming, with some Panzeer Dragoon and Nights into Dreams tossed together. I'm NOT saying that the game is copying one of those titles. Don't expect to see those games emulated in this title! I'm saying that little snippets of game play tells me that the developers grew up playing those games. That centipede shooting section; I recognize that game play! Hell yea!

Needless to say this is a title on my shortlist of games to get. Especially since it has a free demo to try it out first!

I'll give the demo a try once I get my video card situation sorted.

I watched an hour or so of gameplay and it does look somewhat interesting, albeit a bit repetitive.

Demo was interesting. Didn't push me to wanting to pay $40 for the game though. At $25 or $30 I think I'd be interested in it.

Got around to playing this last night.

I had tried it months ago in a MS retail store waiting in line for the VR demo and thought it was neat. Bought it because I had some MS digital credit to burn

Runs great on my system with everything turned up and has been a lot of fun so far. Played a couple of hours before i knew it.

My main complaint is that the camera can be a bit obnoxious and I wish the short dash (tap b) moved your a lil further or at least did a roll or something.

I never did play the demo for this but I watched some gameplay...looks alright but probably something I would only give a shot for $10 or so.

Yeah, why the fuck is the PC version of this game still $40 almost a year after release? You can get the One version from Amazon for 15 bucks.

https://www.amazon.com/ReCore-Xbox-One/dp/B00ZPQZMUM

This is the reason I always consider anything sold EXCLUSIVELY outside the Steam/Origin stores to be a joke. It gets forgotten by the publisher, and will almost never go on-sale, or see a price-drop. And when it goes on-sale, you're lucky-as-fuck to actually catch it (since you rarely have no reason to frequent the store).

You know, like Nintendo first-party e-shop games. I just don't even bother with those, because you're always guaranteed to get the physical copy for cheaper. (Amazon Prime release window 20% discount FTW).

The least they can do is sell a physical copy with a game code, if they really want it locked-down to Windows 10. Then I could find it cheap on Amazon, a company that actually knows the price of a video game!

I think Its worth more than $10. $40 might be a bit steep but I've played it some more and it definitely has some depth to it as a platformer.

There are optional dungeons that you can play through to get blueprints, materials, and an progression points (to open new challenges). All the dungeons have secondary objectives:
  • completion time
  • find hidden key
  • shoot hidden switches
Each one gives you an extra loot pickup but you have to complete all three at once to get the final prize which I have yet to do.

I just did a jumping dungeon that reminded me a lot of the jumping puzzles in Guild Wars 2.

Have they added in a dungeon restart button? This review from launch says the only way to restart is to finish it, or go back to the game's title menu (no, jjust no.)

https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2016...obot-dog-cant-save-this-half-baked-adventure/

Have they fixed any of the glitches, or is the game basically abandoned?

I have not noticed any glitches myself

I'll check on dungeon restart but I believe you can return to your home base at any time without leaving the game (I'll double check)

Also the dungeons I've played so far aren't that long

Well, no, but it's a speed run. At least accoring to the article I linked:

These dungeons have three set objectives: find and shoot eight targets; find a single yellow collectible; and finish the entire dungeon in a certain amount of time. Meeting each of those objectives unlocks one piece of loot; nailing all three in a single run gets you an additional bonus piece of loot.

IT doesn't matter how short it is: you know when you've made a critical error and can't possibly make it in time. If the game makes this VERY COMMON situation clunky to restart, OR makes you finish the rest of the run, then it's a bad game design.

Right, the speed run part kinda sucks like that buts its the only real challenge in them for the most part. I checked and you either have to quit to the main screen or warp to home base and warp back

The speed runs are only in the optional dungeons and the loot isn't game changing either. I think its a fair criticism that they could have been implemented better but not worth passing up on the game if its something you might like.
