Hi all. So over the past couple of months I've been looking on and off at 27" 1440p high-end gaming monitors and have got my eyes on one that has quite the controversial following. Being that I'm also partial to getting one with G-Sync I've been (of course) eyeing closely the ASUS ROG Swift series (preferably the TN paneled PG278Q as that's more within my budget). The controversy lies namely on Newegg and Amazon with...QC (Quality Control). A lot of these ROG Swifts that are being sold seem to going back to ASUS or Newegg or Amazon swiftly after purchase (see the word play there) with anything from backlight bleed, pixel inversion, poor construction, monitor dying between as little as 15-90 days after purchase to as far as 1 year after purchase due to poor construction, DOA monitors and (for the IPS paneled PG279Q) "uncontrollable IPS glow". To that one I say, aren't IPS panels supposed to glow? Only a little? A lot?
Where I'm going with this is based on what's in the channel now what are the odds I'm going to spend $650+ on a lemon here? I plan on getting the monitor next month around the time of my birthday. Is now a good a time as ever to gamble on the ASUS ROG Swift series? Also, I know we got an ASUS rep/insider on these forums so I hope he sees this as he stops by. Thanks in advance for your answers and advice and until next time I am out!
