Waited on our room's balcony while my kiddo took a nap for a couple hours in Ketchikan. All the docks were full so we anchored out in the channel. Had a great view of a ton of planes going in and out... the air/water traffic there was just nuts! Here's some water takeoff pics.

It's amazing how easy it is to almost completely freeze the prop. I probably could have gotten away with a slower shutter speed since they hadn't taken off yet, but this was my first real attempt at shooting a moving plane. Next time :)

But you've got it just right here! The prop is significantly blurred to show movement while the plane is pin-sharp.
 
Picked up a rokinon 12mm f2 last week and have been trying a couple Minolta MD lenses.

These are using those from this weekend

Rokinon 12mm @f2, missed focus on her eyes but it still gives a good idea.

How close were you in relation to her when you take the 1st pic? considering 12mm, I would think it was pretty close? or is it cropped? Love the wide angle portraiture.

I was rather close, sitting a couple feet away at most, that isn't cropped at all. I'm on a 1.5 crop sensor as well.

I only see the picture of the car and when I try and quote that post the other images show up as broken links.
 
Empty Sky New Jersey, September 11th Memorial. The names of the victims are engraved on the twin walls. The beams on front are from the fallen WTC.

I remember exactly where I was and what I doing when I heard the news. I was interning in a hospital, walking by the nurse station. When I heard the news, I didn't believed it until I saw the footage of the fallen WTC. It was a very shocking and sad day.
