Daang, Grim is lookin good. I wonder how they are going to handle the mentality of "I'm a criminal, I have to herpdurr always"... They mention working on something other than disarmed in the station, I hope they come up with a good balance (I might need to kill the man who shot my dog and stole my bible).

It's on

Check your emails for an invite, got mine 25 minutes ago :)

I got a wave 2 invite last night at midnight, odd timing. Not sure if I'll have time to mess around with this version before it hits live.

I don't understand how a friend of mine constantly gets wave 1 invites. He only just began backing this year and created his account this year...

Bug reports (or any activity on them, including confirming bugs) can get you into the PTU. Bug reports and play time will keep you in one you are there.

Yup, play the game and search through the issue council adding your "Can reproduce" on issues you've experienced. It takes at most 20-30 minutes and I do it once a week.

oooohhh, that looks really nice.

I wonder if the body kit turns the f7c into that look or if there is a "Mark 1"

Still debating on keeping the Super Hornet with the Kit or upgrading it to the Sabre.

There is a Mark 1, it is scheduled to get an update. CR said they will be keeping both. I'm not exactly sure which one you'll get when you apply the skin, CR hints at being able to fly it if you do very well in SQ42 but does that mean you get to fly it in the single player game or you "earn" it and fly it in the PU?

nice, there are a lot of interesting changes to that model.

I hope the F7A kit lets my super look like that.

Do they have any plans to mess with the 300ii/325 or those ships? Seems like they are upgrading/changing most other ships around them but not touching those.

Yeah they will, the very minimum you can expect is an update to bring up texturing, damage states and materials up to the same quality standards as the newer ships. As far as design and capability changes, check the official forums and post in the official thread gathering feedback:

Roberts Space Industries - Let's talk about the 300i

All the feedback will be gathered and used when they do another pass at the ships just like they did with the Hornet:

Gamescom trophies went out for subscribers today, as well as the non sub one was added to the store

The ugly duckling ended up being one of the best looking ship.
The first thing I thought was: Add some legs and arms and you got a decent looking Veritech in Gerwalk mode.

lol, I damn near forgot I had PTU access, I've been crazy busy at work for the last few months. Time to try out my Starfarer :)

Edit*

haha, after flying the Starfarer for about an hour I docked and then grabbed a Argo. It spawned near my Starfarer. I took off and the acceleration and speed was so fast compared to the Starfarer I crashed right into it and then my game locked up in the explosion lol.

I'll have to play around with it so more tomorrow, must sleep now ;)

Any optomization going on? I can only run 1440p in 'low' last I checked, and it was still stuttering and slow. I know I need to get off my behind and drop the 7970 sooner or later, but I am cranking down on some debt for another six months at least...

I get about 39 FPS in PTU 2.5 @ 1440p with my 980Ti - highest graphic settings, there are rumors a new netcode will be dropping in the near term

Gamescom booth finished, going live in just over 2 hours

Anvil Terrapin revealed via a similar twitter campaign used for the Buccaneer reveal.

A figurative tough nut to crack, the Terrapin is the most heavily armored of the base-priced spacecraft on the market. Originally designed for long-range survey missions in dangerous star systems, the Terrapin’s design philosophy involves wrapping the ship in additional layers of armor and reserving a significant amount of engine power to host the largest shield generator in its class. Terrapins are popular among private miners, with an equipment mount and a small storage hold that can be converted for valuable minerals.

I really like that one. Reminds me of the troop transport from Aliens for some reason (I realize they don't look a lot alike). Maybe just part of the design.

Yeah I can see that. I really like that it's a starter ship which will make it cheap to earn in the PU.

Hints being dropped about the big presentation later today

You caught a glimpse of the Ursa Rover in the Constellation commercial, but this planetside exploration vehicle is getting close to showing you a whole lot more.

Big livestream starts in 5 minutes or so  www.twitch.tv/starcitizen. There's over 14k 21k people watching live and rising.

Edit: It can't be a CIG live event without a delay lol

Due to increased security in Koln, getting everyone inside the venue is taking longer than expected. The show will start at 9:30 PM CEST.

This was the line 1 hour ago prior to the event

The 3.0 gameplay demo was simply unreal. (45k live viewers on twitch)

Pickup mission at port Olisar
Get on Freelancer and travel to Levski to meet with contact
Pickup mission: Retrieve black box from destroyed Starfarer
Fly to Starfarer and retrieve black box while fighting off pirates inside
Grab a fully flyable Drake Dragonfly from the Starfarer's cargo hold as you leave
Get mission update to locate cargo the pirates has stolen
Land on moon surface again and engage in vehicle combat with an Ursa and other pirates on a Dragonfly
Kill off pirates and grab loot from pirate stash
Get double crossed by the same guy who gave us the mission in the first place

All of it seamless and so much freaking detail, and this was all done with version 1.0 of their tech.

FYI they have some pretty decent discounts if you buy the explorer packages, the $195 Exploration Starter Pack has around a $65 difference vs getting each item separately so around a 25% discount (note this includes the both game packages SQ 42 & SC)

edit- It's actually only around a 20% discount compared to starting with the normal freelancer package since it comes with an extra $25 in digital goods over the normal starter packages. However if you don't care about the Digital Star map, Engineering Manual or digital Soundtrack then it's a much better deal.

The others are only around 20% off but they have LTI instead of 6 month insurance

Gamescom 2016 Star Citizen 3.0 live gameplay demo. Grab a drink the mission is almost a full hour worth of gameplay.

That was great, seeing the dragon fly and rover and everything.

I really hope they are able to populate the game with missions like that that give you characters to interact with and aren't just the same things over and over and over.
