Trying to find a lightweight (2.7lb or so) ultrabook that supports VT-d and VT-x.

Intel Ark pages for all of the mobile processors that I've checked (m3, m5, m7) all indicate they're supported by the CPU but that the manufacturer has to support it.

I've contacted Razer regarding their Blade Stealth, and they've confirmed that it is not possible to enable VT-d on the machine. ASUS has refused to provide me with the information, after contacting their tech support 7 or so times.

Anyone have a good, lightweight, powerful system that fits this requirement? (prefer it doesn't have a dGPU, but I'm not terribly picky...more of a cost thing)

I posted over in the virtualization sub, but figured I would try again here.

Try digging though this list: Hardware Compatibility List (HCL) | Qubes OS Project The laptops with yes in both HVM and IOMMU columns support VT-x and VT-d.

Most are older laptops and you'll have to check the specs for weight, but the ASUS UX31A (Ivy Bridge) seems to fit your requirements and the ASUS UX303LAB (Broadwell) is half a pound heavier.

I'm pretty sure my Lenovo Yoga 260 has it. I'll bet others in the Thinkpad line do as well, but the Yoga 260/ Yoga 12 are easy to find on the outlet.

Thanks a ton for the HCL for Qubes, guessing you peeked at my other thread for the Qubes tidbit, that's exactly what I'm using it for. Didn't actually occur to me that there would be such a list, even if the machines are older it gives me an idea of manufacturer trends in enabling VT-d. Thanks!

Any chance you could poke your head into bios on your Yoga 260 and see if there's a VT-d switch there? I actually looked at them awhile ago and thought they looked like decent machines. All the stories I hear about Lenovo rootkits and stuff turn me off a bit, but I can at least clean up the stuff that isn't in firmware.

There is a VT-D switch in the 260's BIOS.

I think the rootkit stuff was on the ideapads, but not aware of it on the Thinkpads. I always wipe all the computers I deal with, either for corporate images or personal systems.

Thank you much! I do like the look of those systems, they're definitely on the forefront for my next rig now. :D
