NVIDIA Announces The New Titan X

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm going with the EVGA Titan X hybrid kit once they release it. This card is begging for it.

The EVGA kit may be good, but sounds like it will be a while until it is launched.

I went with the Corsair HG10 solution for my two 980ti's before this card, but they had problems. They got the tolerance stackups all wrong, and they didn't install cleanly so that they made good contact with the dies. They tried to make them compatible with ALL corsair AIO's, regardless of the pump shape, which meant they couldn't use the 4 holes immediately around the GPU to mount them.

I think they eventually fixed the problem with revised mounting hardware, but it was a huge annoyance.

This gen I'm going with an EK full cover block and a custom WC loop.

I hear ya, but I don't keep a card long enough to be willing to invest that much extra money into cooling it. AIO works for me if it's engineered correctly.

I agree for the most part, putting a $125 water block on a $500 card is a lot of extra cash on top. But $125 full cover block on a card I paid $1300 for with shipping and tax, meh.

I don't see them releasing a 1080 Ti until one of the following happens:

1) AMD releases something that competes with a 1080. That is definitely not happening until Vega, and it doesn't look like we will see any volume of that chip until 2017 since the chip was just completed.

2) NVIDIA has a huge stockpile of big-die Pascal chips that just aren't good enough for a Titan or one of their professional products and wants a way to sell them.

In either case, not soon.

In my case it's more than the water block. I'd have to buy a pump, res, tubing, radiator, etc. So not worth all that cost to me even for a $1200 card. I used to do it, but got tired of changing that crap out all the time. I prefer down and dirty and move on to the next best thing for little trouble.

Anyone knows when the Pascal Titan X will be back in stock?

Anyone who claims to know is probably full of shit. Companies rarely disclose this information.

It comes back in stock when it comes back in stock. Maybe try clicking the notify button?

Check every morning. You'll get one.
x2

It's in stock for a few minutes every day.

You know.. $999 OG Titan seemed almost unreasonably expensive.. but as a halo product for gamers, or as a TESLA with display to do development on without the Quadro features/price I understood it. $1200 for new Titan X... every review is jumping on that price like its super unreasonable... but I dunno... card feels so much more reasonable to me, lol. Its perf/$ isn't crazy, sure as you go up the model line you get less for your dollar, but its not an insane drop off like before, it feels like. I won't be spending $1200, but I can't fault anyone for buying a Titan X any more than anyone for buying just a 1080.

I agree. People spend $5000 USD on a DAC that sounds a tiny bit better than one for $1000 and nobody's complaining about this on audiophile forums.

This card has a measurable 30% increase in performance for a 70% more money. GTX 1080 is 30% faster than GTX 1070 for 55% more money. That's just part of the game.

Taken a step further you don't get twice the performance if you compared sli 1080s vs titan. You'd spend around 1400 for two 1080s, but only net around 20%-30% more performance in games that support sli and in games that don't support sli you're not making much use of that extra 700 bucks.

Fair point, except SLI adds in a whole new dimension. Games that support SLI are limited.

At least ones that support SLI WELL.

Most titles can be coerced into functioning with SLI. You may just not like the performance.

I wish they would bring back the old SLI AA mode. That way you could at least get free antialiasing for titles that refused to otherwise work well in SLI.

SLI AA did look amazing, and I agree it would be a good use for your second card if AFR isn't working. I also want my CSAA modes back...

Or in my case: the TXP is roughly doubling the 1070 in a lot of the reviews I've seen - but factoring in current prices, waterblocks, backplates, and fittings, the cost difference is ~$80. PLUS not having to worry about SLI compatibility or stuttering.

All the major tech youtubers are in England with Nvidia at some event, 1080ti might be closer than you think.

I would be surprised if they cannabilize sales of the Titan X that quickly. Especially since there is no pressure from AMD.

You realize people said the exact same thing about the Titan X Pascal.

Then bam right in AMD's balls, here it is.

I don't think NVidia would release a 1080Ti this soon for any reason involving AMD. They MAY do it to dump their stock of big Pascal chips ASAP though.

The only reason they'd do that is if Volta is coming along very well. Then they'll hold onto Volta until the Pascal chip supply dries up OR Vega drops and is competitive with the 1080.

20-30%?

Where did you get this number? Console DX12 games?
DX11 SLI scaling is over 50% typically and near 80-90% in well optimized PC titles.

But Doom....lol

Listen, if those people don't want SLI, that's fine. But they'll be paying for Titan X level cards until they quit this hobby.
If SLI goes away, I'll stick to consoles for gaming. One card will ever be enough for those who play at the highest resolutions.

Well Said and quite true! Sli ftw till the end!

I could do Titan sli.. hehe. Trying to reason with myself.. no need for 1440 27" screen but I like max fps.. my screen will do 164fps.

So you'll go from 4k 60 fps Ultra (single Titan XP) to 900p 30 fps Low (consoles) if they take away the ability to SLI? That don't make much sense to me but different strokes for different fokes lol.

There wasn't a consumer big Pascal chip available before the Titan X though.

Re-read what i wrote and try not to be so negative. Btw, i wasnt referring to scaling... but perf over titan.

AMD is a nonfactor and has been for a long time, NVIDIA is competing with itself right now. I'm surprised people are in denial about the inevitable 1080 Ti coming soon. Titan X will likely get the limelight for 1-2 months before 1080 Ti hits store shelves and then people will point and laugh at those that bought the Titan X. I got suckered into the Titan/Titan X marketing twice so I know this all too well but I avoided it this time.

I'm not so sure. It can't have half vram this time, and the Titan X already uses a cut GPU.

Will they cut it down to 24 SMs and keep the 12GB or will they replace the Titan X with a full GP102 config and the current Titan X becomes the Ti, who knows?

Only if you insist on placebo refresh rates above 60hz. :p

The single Titan X is ALMOST enough to run everything I've got pinned at 60hz with the highest eye candy settings, maybe only with AA backed off a little bit. Unless games finally start increasing their graphical fidelity over 2010 levels all I need is maybe 20% more than a single Titan X can provide to be content.

Look. SLI may work out on a handful of mainstream AAA titles, but if you happen to like other titles it's absolute rubbish.

I tend to not care for Call of Modern Battlefield: Online so it didn't work out for me.

Happy sli loves fps gaming! If it wasn't for that I'd save tons with consoles and casual gaming.

You think it will provide good cooling to the voltage regulators? I would do something like that now but it only cools the core well... wish they would make a AIO with a halfway decent water block. Sell it for 140 and im in!

Wish but then it would be universal anymore.. they could for fe cards though bit not custom cards.

Saying nothing of the quality difference from them both.
1. Extra lag from SLI, SLI not working, problems when it does work (low utilisation, judder/uneven framerate ...).
2. Low quality consoles are the reason we own PCs. Even a single 1/2 decent gfx card gives a better experience. Much better way to go casual.

You're doing it wrong :p
