I probably wouldn't use as a monitor but it would be great to watch while on the pc.

~26ms input lag when you switch to gaming mode. It isn't that bad, and definitely a good display for the price. I use the 40" version as my primary display as well.

I don't have a problem with huge TVs being used for a monitor, I've been using a 42" display for almost ten years now and I could never go back to anything smaller.

The problem with this being 50" and used as a monitor is that it's a Samsung VA panel, which means uniformity is going to be shit when viewed close up. You'll always have that bullseye shaped center of good color, and a circular washed out portion of the rest of the screen. But of course you'll have excellent contrast and deep blacks....

Still, if I was going to go for a screen of this size for use as a monitor I would find an IPS panel. The blacks won't be as good but the color purity and uniformity will be spot on even when viewed up close.

But that price though.... I'd be lying if I said I wasn't extremely tempted....

Remember when I said I was tempted above? :D

I had this exact same monitor for many months. It has fantastic performance and a quality build.

Here is the thing I want people to maybe try and understand. This is no different here than having 2 or 3 or maybe even 4 displays arranged around your desk. Many look at this as being too big. Yes and no. It's large yes but so are other displays on your desktop combined. The difference here that counts is with a large 42" or 43" or 49" or 50" display, your getting rid of all those different sizes of monitors and the desktop space they may take up. With a large display your still sitting the same distance from your 2nd or 3rd, maybe 4th monitor.

I just picked up a 49" KS8000 Samsung and I am extremely happy with it. Glossy and super low latency. I added in a 2nd 980 Ti yesterday that I picked up for $209 dollars off of Craigslist ( not kidding ) and I am super stoaked.

I've used a large format display for close to ten years now and couldn't go back to anything smaller. I used a 42" Westinghouse from 2007 until 2011, then a 42" LG (IPS with 4:4:4 chroma yay!) from 2011 until Christmas of last year, and since then I've been trying to find the right 4K big screen display for me. I first tried another LG, a 43UF6430 which was horrid because of it's RGBW panel and staggered pixel arrangement. Then I tried a Seiki SE42UGT which isn't 4:4:4 chroma but is a nice PVA display. Then last month I tried a Wasabi Mango ZEN U400 which was absolutely horrid.... and now finally I'm getting this 50" Samsung.

As I said in another thread here I actually think large format displays are easier on the eyes and your neck too. People are always like 'OMG, don't you have to move your eyes and neck around constantly???'. Yeah, you do a little bit but that movement mimics the movements you would be making at any other time of the day instead of staring straight ahead at a tiny screen getting a stiff neck and strained eyes.

Of course I'm also visually handicapped, so I'm naturally biased towards large displays. I just hope the VA 'bullseye' effect isn't too pronounced on this new Samsung!

This is correct. My main monitor is an ultrawide but every now and then my brother and I swap displays and he has a 43" Vizio 4K display. I have a hard time getting used to my 35" ultrawide after using this display for a bit. If I could easily sell my ultrawide I'd be picking up the Samsung TV.

Just don't 'get' Ultrawide monitors... I mean, why not get a large 4K display and if you want the ultrawide experience now and again use a 3840x1600 resolution with the black bars on top and bottom. I guess the ultrawide screens are a nice conversation piece and all, but jeez.

Even though this deal is currently not on I thought I'd post and let everyone know that my order arrived double boxed and completely intact. What's more, this thing makes a fantastic PC display. It's simply stunning for the price...

If you were on the fence and now want in on the deal, keep checking the link every day. I've seen the $529 price come back twice since the original deal was posted.

Now to get the rest of my desk setup the way I want! :D

nice! I hope it serves you well

As an owner of the ju6700 it's a heck of a nice TV for gaming for the price. Lots of real estate, decent speed, nice picture.
