Windows 10 Free Upgrade Offer To End Soon

Someone should check those keys, more than likely they're Technet keys leeched from thousands of subscriptions over the years where people would take advantage of the Technet pricing, get 10 keys per product, sell the keys for profit, then use the proceeds to buy more Technet subscriptions, ad repeat ad nauseum which is part of the reason (a big part) why Technet no longer exists.

"The few always ruin it for the many..." and that's just another example of it, ruining a good thing with Technet just to make some cash.

No, they don't have to check. Technet licenses are considered as retail. They are fully upgradable to free win10. Free upgrades are basically for every os except enterprise. Also, I highly doubt they are technet anyways since those are an individual basis so someone reselling their keys will blow thru them selling at 10 a pop. If you read the FS thread, it'll state if its from a reseller where and what you are getting. If it's Ion's thread, there's a disclaimer there detailing where the keys come from. His keys validate for win10 btw.

how do you go about checking those keys?

Read above.

Not really sure how a Netflix or Hulu app that runs across devices would be compromised or certain casual games or certain utilities like a calculator or map or content apps like ereaders. Heck, even the universal Office apps are plenty capable on the desktop, certainly not as powerful as the desktop apps but then how many times have we heard people mention how little of all of the functionality they use in function rich apps like desktop Office? From the perspective of running applications, desktop apps work just like they do on Windows 7, some apps work equally well across desktops, tablets or even phones if that's how they were designed. Some apps, like those that have features like ink, would be more geared towards tablet use but you could still run the app on a desktop and read or search that info, I do that all the time with desktop OneNote. Of course OneNote works equally well with keyboards and mice and text input.

And it looks like Microsoft was right about a hybrid approach, or it least it finally kind of worked out. 2 in 1 devices have seen a lot of growth while conventional tablets have sort of collapsed.

You ask how they're compromised and then go on to explain how they're compromised. Good job, I don't need to add much to that. They kind of work on both, but they lack features here and there, that might not interest the "people" you're referring to. When I hear universal I immediately think of the swiss army knife. I don't want a swiss army knife I want a separate proper set of screwdrivers, and tools.

I would be shocked if they weren't entertaining the idea. They're already doing it with Office 365 and I'm sure the Adobe Creative Cloud model shows it can be successful. The parts are all there - $10/mo for updates and access to the latest version of Windows. Some tier that gets you a discounted rate if you get Office 365 with it as well. Premium tier that includes some expanded amount of OneDrive. Some developer tier that has Azure time bundled in. ... All for an affordable recurring monthly payment. .

The reason I don't think this will work is because most households probably have more than one computer (E.g. Main desktop, tablet/laptops for each family member). $10/month for the entire household would be affordable, but $10/month for each PC, laptop and tablet could amount to $40-$60/month for the average family. That would not fly.

I agree, that would add up quick for some people. However, nothing says they have to price it as $10/mo per computer. (except for me just pulling a number out of the air) On some Office 365 plans they'll let you install Office on 5 machines (PC/Mac) or so. They should have an idea of what quantities and prices people start to find it palatable.

I did it just to get a key and when I reverted back windows media center was gone. I have a key for mce but Microsoft took the download down. I'll have to find a way to download it again or I might have to put Windows 7 on it.
