Pokemon Go Player Smashes Into Police Car

This stupid crap is happening so often that it almost isn't newsworthy anymore. Well, except when you plow into a police car...and it's all caught on the police officer's body camera.

So OFTEN?

How many accidents a day occur from people texting or doing anything on the phone?
Do you have statistics to back that up?

Or are you just posting crap about Pokemon? Between your stupid laser pointer posts and these, man, can't you find any real news?

Pokemon Go is popular, so it's no brainer why Steve posts about it. Stop being a cry baby. It took you more time to post than it would have if you just went to one of the dozens of other Tech/News sites to get "real news".

Bite me. This was already posted in the forum by someone else as a joke and was funny.
Posting it as a "this shit has to stop" article is bullshit.

It is just pig-piling on the Pokemon hysteria like a fucking lemming. A cheap shot. Low hanging fruit.

If people want to bitch about Pokemon that is their choice and I can bitch that it is fucking stupid. How about all the people getting exercise and meeting people and having a great time? How about the *news* that a decent mobile game has actually changed so much in such a short time?

There is alot of good in the game and reporting only the bad incidents is one sided and biased.

You are right though, it is a NO BRAINER. No thought required to pick these articles for further agitating anti-pokemon hysteria.

Getting worse than Glen-Fucking-Beck

Demonstrated STUPIDITY - IS - news when it is gaming related - so yeah - you might see that here.

People like this need mobile phone lockouts when they get behind the wheel because they lack the ability self regulate their wishes.

It's not anti-Pokemon hysteria.. Steve was showcasing a fucking moron plowing into the back of a cop car, which just happened to be playing Pokemon Go.

Cry less, bro.

Sounds like someone is trying to justify spending all that time finding pokemon to win at the poke-gym.

Didn't they say that the game doesn't work if you go above walking speed? That car was driving at least 25mph.

Lemmings are very similar to a pokemon go player in behavior.

Yeah look at all the good the game does, like it's solved world hunger, and now it's working on world peace.

Someone getting so riled up about a damn stupid game actually makes you think that there is a problem here.

Screw you team rocket.

It is always the same bullshit over and over.

World of warcraft player dies in internet cafe.......WOW must be bad
Not enough Woman game devs............Gamers are all sexist
FPS shooters have guns in them.............All FPS shooters are terrorists trainers
and on and on and on texting and guns and games and movies and bullshit bullshit bullshit everything is gonna kill us or fuck our kids brains or have us walking off a cliff. Fucking noise. and then.....in the space of a couple weeks when people can't sell ad time bitching about pokemon anymore then it just receeds.

I don't give a shit that this stuff is in the news, I am just calling it what it is, bullshit just like everything that becomes somewhat popular needs to be villified by morons.

I WILL SAY THIS, that is a funny video. I bet there are a million of them where someone walks out of the car after texting. We don't hear or see those anymore do we?
Cops in the video didn't seem pissed about it, why the hell are you guys?

Maybe because they are glad the guy didn't shoot them which is real news.

I don't mind posting the video but painting a picture that this is happening all the time is bullshit and you can all eat my shorts.

I still can't understand why grown ass adults invest so much energy into this...

Are you asking for an explanation, or getting on the "I'm too good for this" bandwagon? If it doesn't interest you, move along. Never seen so many crybaby ass men cry about games.

And while I agree the PokeGo shitposts are old, this doesn't seem to be one of them.

I think there's an underlying problem of people not being able to control themselves.
Mobile phone lockouts are stupid because they don't work. There is no good technological solutions to curb certain people's dumb behavior. You just have to identify those people and prevent them from doing harm to others.

MIssion accomplished: Get people fighting over pokemon.

I will say how FUCKING FUNNY it is people saying that grown men shouldn't play the game.
What a bunch of fucking hypocrites. Like you don't play games. Who gives a shit if it is Pokemon or Zombies or whateverthefuck.

If you are here you are a nerd who never grew up and you know it.

I don't get it. Your phone knows if you are moving fast. The app is already using GPS data. The shit should automatically turn off over 13mph.

Why should they bother to curb how people play the game? What's wrong with people playing it from a passenger/back seat?

We better ban Pokemon Go.

If we can save just one life by stopping this app, then it is worth it.... right?

Meh, people will be dumbasses. The thing is, even with the whole personal accountability thing aside, the game is supposed to be a incentive to be active lol. If you're gonna "cheat" by not walking, go the distance (heh) and grab a emu + GPS spoofer.

Someone has their nickers in a twist.

This is slightly different (imho completely different) than guns in FPS' or the other crap you posted, this game forces a degree of interaction with the physical world, and that interaction comes with consequences. Where your comment falls apart is that these Pokemon Go incidents are a direct result of this game, not some causation/correlation bull, person playing Pokemon go crashes while playing, person hit by car while playing, people lured and mugged while playing. This is a legitimate problem of an augmented reality, Geocaching game. The makers will likely be sued as a result of some of these things because their game had a direct role played in the incidents.

This started out describing my friend, who also plays Pokemon Go and drives a RAV4. Hopefully not also putting dents in police vehicles...

i think the problem with this is that everyone is talking about pokemon GO being a distraction while driving. While it is a distraction, ppl seem to ignore the fact that txting while on the phone is the exact same thing..

Doing anything other then driving in your car is a distraction and can be dangerous.

I think quite a few states have started the texting ban laws and such that are now here in NY. But you see way to many people trying to do it still. I can always tell when I see a car start drifting between lanes or they speed up/slow down a lot. You go past them and all you see is them looking down, up, down, up, down, as they try and drive and text.

Dear idiots: Stop ruining ‘Pokémon Go’ with all your nonsense

Stop the hate yo.

A bigger point here is this. the thing that makes PGO great is the GPS/AR aspects. Any game that utilizes map locations and AR like this runs the risk of people not focusing on their surroundings. Should we stifle that innovation just because a small minority of people are irresponsible?

Lets ban Self Driving cars right out of the gate then, because a small percentage of them are going to run amok.
Oh and lets not forget guns, lets ban guns because some 9 year old gets a hold of one.

Distracted driving laws are already on the books. What more do you want?
Look at the RED LIGHT camera scam thread here. So SOME people run red lights. Bad, bad people. So they put in cameras and guess what, people are being ticketed for errors that are not even a danger to anyone.

You can't have innovation without risk or the innovation is pointless.

It doesn't stop with speed. I was driving 55mph while my daughter was catching pokemon. I still think anything but voice calls should be disabled in a moving car.

Yeah, and you shouldn't be able to use a GPS or change a radio station or scratch your ass or spill your coffee while driving.

Oh, and don't forget that science has PROVEN that hands free driving is JUST AS DANGEROUS as just talking on a cell phone.

Hands-free cellphones make driving more dangerous, not less - The Boston Globe

Yeah, and you shouldn't be able to use a GPS
No, you shouldn't be able to use a GPS, as far as trying to type in an address at least, while driving. So many distracted douchebags taking their eyes off the road for far too long.

And its not the talking on the cellphone that is dangerous, so that clickbait makes no sense. The primary danger is when people are looking at their phone screen for more than a microsecond glance, such as when scrolling through phone contacts, typing in a phone number, or worse typing up a text reply.

oh god ya.. i still see it a lot here as well. I live in the middle of nowhere and i see at least a couple a day. Distracted driving here is up to 500-1000 fine and 3 demerit points too but clearly, their phone > all.

I do like what some cities are doing though. I read that some cops are riding city bus' to catch distracted drivers...

I like this idea. A DUI conviction can require a breath tester before a car will start. If convicted of distracted driving involving a phone, require an app on the phone that allows only a 911 call when the car is in motion.

Probably just stupidity of the moment, rather than honesty. Chick that rearended me when I asked WTF because we were at a complete standstill at a light, admitted that she mistook her brake for the gas peddle when she started drifting (distracted by cellphone), so instead of panicking and hitting the brake, she slammed on the gas. But she quickly changed her tune when the police arrived, even though there were witnesses to her admission of guilt.

Well you should read the article, cause that is not what the evidence is showing.

Now you are back-tracking saying that GPS is ok but phone should be voice only. Well my phone is my GPS. So are you going to activate only my GPS app on my phone supreme overlord? And for voice only, is that incoming only? Can I dial? How about emergency numbers? What should I be allowed to do?

It is all about personal resposibility. If people don't have it they pay.
