Microsoft Will Bet You A New Laptop That It Can Upgrade Your PC To W10

Ill buy your laptop from you Johnx64 :D

The old one that is.

I'm going to assume they probably used some kind of unique hardware identifier as well as the serial number to mark it in their system. I've read that the wireless nic is the problem and i've swapped nics from another laptop to see if win10 will install on it. I'm waiting for the install to finish now. I also tried to recreate the issue by installing the nic from that laptop in the other but win10 booted fine.

I have an Alienware mx11 r1 that failed at updating six mnths ago. The nvidia 335gt graphics card driver didn't work in 10 and it would just recycle over and over without ever logging in. I've been meaning to try it again. Maybe I iust let them try? If they get it working in the onboard Intel card that's probably enough for them to say it's working and so is assume no free laptop, but that's not good enough for me cause the nvidia card is the only thing that makes that m11x worth keeping.

I tried with an Asus UL80VT that I can't get Windows 10 to be stable one. According to them its no compatible but, couldn't give me a reason on why. Even though it passes all the tests on the installer it self.

This is easy. Put in a weak power supply and an aftermarket crappy video card (that meets their requirements but draws up to the limit or slightly over). Throw in 2-3 slow hard drives that are old and failing. Same with the memory. Lots of ways to get around this. Set it up that it will start the installation but when it boots into win10 to complete it. It fails.

Upgraded my old laptop that they couldn't to win10 :p
