It's kinda funny that the world’s largest package delivery company is the last one to the party when it comes to standard ground deliveries on Saturday. I guess it's better late than never.

United Parcel Service Inc. may join its rivals in offering Saturday delivery for standard ground packages, as the company adapts to surging online shopping and an increasing reliance on home-based customers. The world’s largest package-delivery company will test the service this summer in a few U.S. locations to see if the volume of shipments justifies the cost, said Steve Gaut, a spokesman for the shipper.

That is funny they are so late to the game. Amazon has delivered on Saturday using carriers like OnTrac for a while, and now even does Sunday delivery free with Amazon Prime.

Didn't I just read that UPS doesn't like delivering to homes?

Not that bad compared to Canada where no carrier does delivery on weekends.

It was the UPS' union that was preventing deliveries on Saturday or Sunday, not UPS' corporate.

i miss when USPS was delivering my stuff on sundays a few months ago via amazon. That being said, I always thought UPS delivered on saturday. no wonder they seem so slow. fedex ftw

This is deliveries for *ground* on Saturday- UPS has had a longstanding Saturday delivery service that you could pay (a lot) extra for in many places.

Doesn't seem long ago when saturday was the most expensive day to have a package delivered.

I say we just create replicators and get rid of shipping shit all together but hey that's just me.

UPS has Saturday delivery, though it seems is mostly limited to commercial and industrial addresses.

I dunno which courier it is; I get stuff on Sundays from Amazon, pretty frequently. And I live in a small town in western Washington.

Yeah, it's USPS that delivers on Sundays now, Fed-Ex delivers on Saturdays and UPS is Mon-Fri for residential addresses.

Great, now I can get destroyed packages from Amazon on a new day. Maybe Amazon will up their ridiculous overpackaging and start palletizing singular purchases of a pack of pencils in response.

With mail delivery from online shopping increasing, I hope in the future we see 24/7 mail service, with mail being delivered 2 or 3 times a day from the same postal service. Imagine having morning, afternoon, and evening mail deliveries, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Wow. My UPS even does Sunday deliveries near me.

I've had occasional Sunday USPS delivery for about 15 years; early morning, afternoon, late evening, all over the clock, once in the middle of the night a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, it usually only happens after I get no mail for several days at the end of the week. Usually get a whole pile of mail. Thought the driver was saving it up in his trunk and just delivering it when he was sober. He doesn't appear to be drunk when I see him walking around. At least that's something.

I've seen the brown UPS trucks in the neighborhood on Saturdays for years. I thought it was just extra cost; I have a UPS mailbox for important mail, I'll ask them about the current delivery standard next time I go to pick up my mail (that will be next Friday). My USPS mailman is terrible. I get some of my neighbor's mail pretty regularly.
We now have a separate amazon delivery man. Drives a little white minivan with the amazon logo on the side. No uniform.
