This is quite impressive. Will link to the source.

RIP Nano?

Gigabyte GTX 1070 Mini ITX OC Unleashed - Fastest SFF Gaming Card

lol, I like the last blub - "Not only faster but more power efficient". And this is without HBM memory and says is OC. Too bad HardOCP did not keep their Nano to compare it with. Also means some price cuts on the Nano is in the near future :). Still love my Nano rig with 4K FreeSync Monitor.

That should be a given, probably be rather popular too.

Wow that's awesome.
Right now I have a 770gtx in a tiny SG05 (10 liter). The card perfectly fits.
But I'd need a new case to fit the founders 1070 without cutting.
So maybe this new mini card is the solution for me!

well that certainly changes things. imagine a 1060 mini.

I would imagine that will be happening. Will most likely go with a GTX 1060 mini for a new HTPC build that my wife has been wanting. The one I built her years ago is still good enough for the time being but will want to build her a 4K+ ready box. She likes to play some games as well, mainly, The Sims franchise. So I would wan't her to have a dedicated card that will run some games well.

That is pretty bad ass. HUGE punch from a tiny card.

Not news - was or was not the original GTX 750 (non-Ti) a mini?

I also noticed that the box is in Gigabyte livery.

In fact, here it is - GIGABYTE - Graphics Card - NVIDIA - PCI Express Solution - GeForce® GTX 10 Series - GeForce® GTX 1070 Mini ITX OC

It's a single 8-pin; however, it is smaller than my GTX 550Ti.

It's easily one of the smallest (if not THE smallest) 8-pin driven GPUs I've seen from anybody.

Dual DVI-D, single-DP, and single HDMI.

The bigger issue will be availability.

Hmmm... I have a 750ti that's the same form factor prety much, and yes it's small and was quite powerful for it's size.. but this is one step down from the flagship. But I guess there was a 970 mini also so I stab myself in the foot here.

Still - that's a lot of GPU power in a tidy package.

I believe it, my MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X runs cool and is nearly silent. It's not hard to believe that they could engineer a slightly lower clocked card that would run a bit hotter and louder and still be perfectly stable. TDP is lower than the Nano too, 150W vs 175W.

Whaaat? Gigabyte is bad? Since when?

Anyway...

"AWWWW!!! It's so CUUUUTE!"

Seriously, pretty damn cool looking card.

Anyone who works in PC repairs and sales knows how bad Gigabyte is. I refuse to sell any of their products simply because of the high failure rate. I rank Gigabyte next to Seagate as brands I just mentally filter out of any search result.

That's what is scary about it.
8 gigabytes of flamethrower in a package that friggin SMALL.
It can go in ITX, mATX, etc. For all I know, it could even fit SFF.
I don't need DP at all (my display doesn't support it); however, it does support either sort of DVI and HDMI (thus it is fully ready for any present or future display need/want).
AND it's cheaper than FE (and not lacking anything from FE except size).

This is nice for a mini-ITX case, but when will someone finally release a half height GPU? The best one is still the GTX 750 Ti. Intel's integrated GPUs still aren't better than a dedicated GPU. There's little reason to not have a half height 1060 or something.

This card is great, but whose idea was it that a single DVI is better than TWO displayports?? Bye, bye, 4 screen 4K support...

anybody know why it has to DVI ports? Or do we just have a render?

One has to wonder whether the 1070 is pin compatible with 970. That 2-DVI backplate is identical to my Asus 970 ITX currently in my watercooled ( Enermax LiqTech 120x ) Silverstone SG05 with BDXL burner. Seems like Gigabyte ( and possible Asus in the future ) just used the same board as the 970. That could explain why there are 2-DVI ports. I would have just used a single DVI riser and made more exhaust holes.

Because not everybody has a need for multiple DP displays (I have no need for DP at all, for example). Also, more displays support DVI than DP (in fact, more displays support HDMI than DP - especially those that support resolutions above 1080p).

What? I said nothing about multiple displays. I want decent 3D performance in SFF OEM PCs. Haswell's iGPU is merely OK as long as you're running something 5+ years old.

I have an Asus 970 Mini and it's quiet and great in my HTPC rig. Gigabyte and Asus were the two I saw when looking, it'll be interesting to see if Asus comes out with a 1070 mini.

Still looks like a tall card with top mounted 8-pin.
It will likely be too tall for some cases.

They need to relocate the 8-pin to the front edge of the card if they keep making the cards this tall.

Funny I've had Seagate drives in the mix of drives for years, never had a single issue. I've run gigabyte motherboards for years with zero issue, hell the 1070 in my rig is a gigabyte and working flawlessly.

I'm not doubting the issues you've had, I'm just saying one person's expereience doesn't instantly mean an entire worldwide operation is garbage.

Same thing with cars -- I've talked to people that damn near get violent when you mention Chevrolet.... funny I'm on my 3rd and haven't had a single issue outside of regular maintenance. (S10, Z06, 2nd gen Volt)

I'm in the market for a 10xx series card with 2x dual-link DVI ports. I want it badly for my two ASUS 2560x1440 that for whatever reason don't display colors right unless they use DVI as an input. This is the only card that has 2x dual-link DVI ports. For the life of me I cannot figure out why others have not gone this way. I don't understand the need for multiple HDMI ports or DP ports for VR. I don't care for VR in the least and I'm not the only one. It's too expensive to be mainstream, not to mention it's a playstyle that's very preferential at an individual level, and it's really frustrating to have everyone cramming it down our throats.

Looks like I'll be stuck with this shorty card and whatever sacrifices were made to get it into the small form factor. Curious as well why this is the only one including any of the AIB's. Does the average SFF machine have a need for more DVI ports than a standard PC? Seems to me like it might be the other way around... *shrugs*

I am used to small card, I will have to see reviews if the single fan can keep the temps down while gaming.
My case can handle over 12 but I just don't really like super long cards.

I was hoping Gigabyte would come out with a twin fan about the size of the 750TI.

Still this card uses less power than a Nano, 150w compared to 175w of the Nano (which was spot on). Comparing the performance of my Nano to my 1070, the 1070 blows it away with an AMD cpu vs. an I7 6700k for the Nano. I still love the Nano so don't get me wrong and it works great with a 4K FreeSync monitor.

The 1070 mini will need to be cooled or allowed to draw in fresh air the same as the Nano, other wise it will throttle big time. You keep either card cool with cool air and they will perform.

I've had nothing but good experiences with Gigabyte as well.
