Car Vent Phone Magnet $4 Prime Shipping Code

Screw it. Ordered. 3.99 from gift balance. Turned down prime shipping for the 5.99 Prime Pantry credit. Heh.

These work great overall and won't cause potential damage to your dash like the suction cup ones. The only major downside is that they work best with a case so you can attach the magnet to the case and not your phone and are visible in see-through cases. The magnet can be transferred case to case but over time will lose adhesiveness, but you can probably buy more for cheap.

They are also easily movable from car to car as you can just pull it off without dealing with the suction cup. They also won't obstruct your view like some of the dashboard mounted phone holders, which can be good or bad. I generally prefer having the GPS a little higher like the dashboard holders, but my wife prefers them below the dashboard and not obstructing her view. This is a happy medium for both of us, compared to the CD slot holders which were too low for me and annoying to her as it blocked the built-in touch screen panel.

Another minor issue is that your phone will reduce AC airflow over the vent you attach the mount to, but its not a huge deal if you just crank the air up a little bit higher until temps normalize and the cool air actually helps to keep your phone cool while it is charging and being used for a GPS/map app like Waze/Googlemaps/Applemaps etc.

Wiring in my mustang has gone to shit, if I have my fans on my car dips 300rpm idle and other weird things. I don't intend to fix it so I don't care about blocking a vent.

Thanks Kyle, snagged one as well. Since my window mount holder is shit, hope this fairs better. Problem is my right side vent by the steering wheel, doesn't shut off.

I bought it. For that price it's worth a try. Never had a phone holder in my car before. Normally I was totally fine with it setting next to me and randomly announcing "GPS signal lost" because it was too far from the window.

Got it mounted up and going to use it this morning. Looks like it should work out pretty damn well.

Are you driving in a tank or other heavily armored vehicle? How does the difference of a few ft make you lose your GPS signal? Seems strange...

Well, road test was not so great. The way my vents are in my car, the weight of the phone constantly pulls it down...then it pulled the entire vent out. LOL! Need to work on another position.

Perhaps my old Note 4 just had a super awesome GPS chip? Is it even a chip? I dunno. :dead: It worked fine when the only thing above it was glass. But metal made it lose connection.

Pretty sure my Scion is not a tank. In fact it's probably quite the opposite of a tank. I'm afraid it feels like almost any crash would be near fatal. And yet I rarely drive to the speed limit. Mhh... :nailbiting:

I've never had that issue with a note 3, even in parking garages it was fairly dependable.

Had a similar mount to this before, worked alright for an htc one m7 in fairly rough city driving (shitty roads). If the phone was any heavier/bigger it would not have worked that well, as it was my one fell off a few times. FWIW I had a fairly thin case on my phone too.

Just got this out of the mailbox. The metal plate that goes inside the case sorta holds it, so I decided to try it on the outside of the case. That works much better. I was about to go try it out in the car, when I decided to try out the wireless charging. With either of the plate stickers attached, no wireless charging. Ughh... that is one of the nicest things about this phone, just put in down on the charger here or at work and it's charging. I guess I'll see if the mount works, but not too happy about it interfering with the charging (it's so nice not to have to fish around for a plug to charge).

EDIT:
Well, I can put the round plate a little further towards the bottom and it'll charge, but that's going to put some funky torque on the mount. Guess I'll see what happens when I go to my parent's place in a bit.

I have a CD player mount, which works well. Ive seen the dash/window ones and they look great too. The drawback for the vent clips, from what i've read, is the vent is blocked. Your phone will be hot in the winter and cold in the summer. Newer vent systems can be closed, but I did not want to take up a vent so I went w/ the CD mount instead.

I think mine was around $7-$8

Well, drive went fine. Just have to make sure to turn the clip the correct way... one way the clips are a bit farther apart, and it fell off my vent. The other way they are closer together and it held on all the way back home. I just don't like the closeness of my vent to the radio... makes it a bit harder to mess with the volume knob (I use ReplayGain on my flacs to try and keep the volumes sorta consistent, but when dealing with music from the 80's to the present, there is a huge difference in levels and I have to be ready to adjust the volume or risk blowing my head off between tracks.) Overall, it's not a bad mount, especially for the $4 I spent. Thanks again Kyle :)

I don't see this working in a lot of cars. My Forester's vents are super loose and would tend to rotate downwards with the weight of the phone.

Works perfect in my car. I can see it being an issue come winter with the heat on (since the vent it is attached to will not shut off)

these are pretty good, just make sure the tips don't get worn out enough and scratch the vent.

Love this thing. Best $4 I've spent in a while. Works great with my Nexus 5x, phones much bigger may have an issue

Works great with a 6s plus which is a heavy phone, but yeah it's great the fast placement and removal is huge.

Issue with mine, the gear mechanism that allows it to turn, mine went out and now my phone will spin around, which is shitty.
