DOOM PC Is On Sale

I'll do what I do for all PC games, wait 12-18 months and buy it for 1/2 price (or less)

I just beat the game. I really enjoyed it. It is not a deep game story wise, just lots of running and gunning. That is what makes it so fun to me. I think they did a good job of bringing back the "feel" of shooters that I grew up with (ex: Doom, Wolfenstien, Unreal, Half Life, Quake).

I'm just now starting to get into the MP part of the game. That part is ok so far. Don't know how long I will stick with it.

Got it for this price on release day from cdkeys as well... this game is pretty great sort of reminds me of Metroid for the Gamecube for some reason.
I'm glad I'm not the only one. It definitely has a Metroid Prime vibe to it.

Anyone know what kind of video card you need to get decent quality and frame rates? I don't need the absolute best and I'm on a budget. Right now I have an i7 4790k and just using onboard video. I tend to play older games, primarily TF2, which is why I never bought a dedicated GPU. The most taxing game I play is Cities Skylines, and it becomes almost unplayable after awhile. So I'd like something that can handle both. Anything under $200 that will do the trick? I've been out of the market for so long that I don't know what's good anymore.

I would think a 480 for $199 would make more sense.
Indeed, indeed. I forgot that was coming in at only $199. Yes, might be best to wait a month to check for availability on that.

Gray market where the keys are often stolen and developer doesn't get anything. Always a chance your steam account could be shut down. Google g2a and kinguin.

I have been hearing this for 5+ years. I have bought 50+ games from these sites and never had a single issue. Anecdotal I know, but I always sigh when I come into a thread like this and this same message is copied and pasted.

Grey market is actually pretty reliable nowadays, but the price differences between them and legit sources also aren't as pronounced anymore ($36 w/ G2A Shield vs $40 shipped from Amazon) There's also the ethical issue regardless of whether Steam is willing to put the banhammer down on people simply looking for a cheaper price.

When the Doom pre-order was like $35 on cdkeys.com for a $60 game, I would say that's a pretty pronounced price difference.

In this day and age if steam or anyone else massively or single banned any account over gray market keys you'd know about it. So many cry babies in this "social media" age that think people really care about their opinion. There would be 10,000 reddit threads and 36,000 facebook pages dedicated to the outrage.

Sure if the price is no different, then go with a non gray market source. But when I was getting a game for half price vs current "sales" on other other sites, I took the chance.

Worst that can happen is getting the key revoked or having to do a chargeback/dispute if its DOA, yeah.

I'll wait. I betcha anything this hits the 50% off bins and bundle sites before Christmas...

I'll try the demo first. Nice that they have that option. Demos used to be everywhere but they seem to have all but vanished.

Also it cracks me up when the "physical" box version is $20 less than the digital download code. And when you get the box and open it up... and it's just a postcard with a code on it to download.

I would really like a digital code of this. You know what happens with my game boxes, they get thrown away or collect dust in a drawer and I don't care about them lol.

I think its all the hidden secrets and abilities that are added to your suit.
The platforming sections and UI design, as well. The story being told through the codex, not getting in the way of the gameplay, was also a big part of the Metroid Prime series (at least until MP3).

Like when this happened?

Those keys were stolen, though. As was noted in post #25, grey market keys (from other regions) are fine, as far as I'm aware. If anyone can find evidence of those keys being revoked (or Steam accounts otherwise affected) I would certainly like to hear about it. I don't typically buy from grey market sites but I have a couple of times when the savings was substantial.

the issue is how would you even know where the keys you bought are coming from...it could be other regions or it could be stolen...people buy them simply because they are cheaper

risk reward situation. i've bought a bit of stuff from g2a, know lots of folks that have too.

Oh without a doubt. If I see a sale on CDKeys.com or some other quasi-legit site, I'm in. Mad Max for $13, and some others, were all worth the risk. I just have that little nagging in the back of my head from the Sniper Elite fiasco, but I'm pushing the "Buy" button, nonetheless.

Playing the demo. Gave me a massive headache in about 15 minutes. UGH. This will probably have to be a PS4 game for me since playing on the PC kills my head.

On the positive side, 1440p on ultra with my gtx 970 seems smooth. Fraps hovers at 60.

I'm not buying from a grey market seller even if it costs $1...there's no such thing as quasi-legit or somewhat legit...if I'm really hard up for cash I simply won't buy the game or will wait for a Steam sale...I do like that Nvidia/AMD bundles a lot of popular games with their GPU's nowadays so I'm able to snag a code for cheap that way (people selling their codes online in forums like [H])

I want to play Doom but am not interested in paying $60 or even $40...

Its a DVD with just over 7 GB on it. So there is some game data on it. Total downloaded is 43.8 GB

Played the demo is that really the entire first level bc it seemed short and nothing too exciting, decent that's all.

the first level is limited. its sort of easing you in to the game, basically. things begin to ramp up pretty quickly afterwards...dont worry

meanwhile id love a boxed copy of this just for display, except i preordered one of the limited edition lithographs of the alternate cover art :D hell yeah!

You heard it here folks!
Buying steam keys from a reseller is the same as being part of an online pedophelia ring!

Threads over, guys
Same people who think if you masturbate you dick will fall off. Let me guess, these people from Utah?

You are absolutely right, they are legit. On a site like gmg or cdkeys you are getting a legit key that is generally region unlocked from an authorized distributor. Now, whether that distributor is violating the terms of that distribution agreement by selling the keys internationally really isn't my problem, nor would it likely ever be.

Well it's not exactly a deep game. I would say $35-40 is fair, $60 is pushing it IMO and I did not pay that for it.

The first level is not at all representative of how good the game gets. It ramps up significantly.
