I am running 3 PC's:
1 game box (47" x 1080)
1 HTPC / bedroom box (37' x 1080)
1 office box / 15" laptop (+24" x 1080) dedicated to work @ home.

Last weekend, I tried that 24" as a 2nd monitor to my 47" game box & do not want to give it up!

So, I went to Sams Club to see what I can get for $200 @ 32" x 1080 to use w/ that laptop.
There are several 32" x $200 options, but I can get 40" @ $250~$330 or a 4k for $350 too!
The $200 vs $350 is not a huge leap, but I do not want to go beyond $400 or under 40".

Suddenly I am thinking:
Buy 43" x 4K (run @ 2K) for my game rig - to replace 47" x 1080
Move 47" x 1080 to bedroom - to replace 37" x 1080
Move 37" x 1080 to office - to replace the 24" @ 15" laptop

Here is the Hitachi 43" unit I am considering:
Hitachi 43" Class 4K UHD TV - LU43V809 - Sam's Club

All feedback is appreciated & feedback on this particular TV will be particularly appreciated!

:D

A quick glance at the manual from Hitachi's website suggests that this TV is manufactured by TongFang, same as the TV in this thread. You're probably looking at something with pretty high latency (over 100ms) and no 4:4:4 @ 60Hz.

Sooooo..... based on this 4K Greek language that I am just beginning to learn today - this monitor sux ballz.

IIRCC, my current monitors all claim to be 8~10ms latency...

I bought the hitachi and will test it out when it arrives next week. If it sucks I'll send it back.

I got the screen, it does appear to support 4:4:4 at 4k at 60hz at least according to test images, but there are some artifacts so I'm not sure it truly supports it. Also there are options you cannot turn off like noise reduction and dynamic contrast. Also there is a sizeable gap between the screen and polarizer, so if you are looking at the sides from an angle you see the black gap instead of the screen being lit up. I'm going to take it back tomorrow, but if anyone has any tests they want me to run tonight I will attempt to do them.

Edit: Also adjusting the backlight doesn't actually lower the back light brightness, just darkens the image, and you can tell the back light is the same because of the menu controls on the screen don't darken.

A little late to the party but I wrote about my experience with this set, how it cannot lip sync due to the video lag, how Hitachi can't fix it, and how Hitachi doesn't couldn't care less if a TV lip syncs or not.

Hitachi doesn’t know how to make a 4K TV lip sync… and doesn’t care

Mostly, just a reminder of what else to check when testing out a new TV. As a monitor, I have little use for it there as well due to the video lag. Even with all the video processing extras turned off I still find it too laggy for even coding and other business work. Thus, I use it as a monitor extremely rarely. It always connects to my laptop at 4K but I believe I also tried forcing it to 1080 and still found it unacceptable for some reason (but I can't be sure of that off the top of my head).
