Citing anonymous sources, Reuters is claiming that Amazon is preparing to launch a streaming music service to compete with the likes of Spotify and Apple. According to the report, Amazon is finalizing licensing deals with major labels as we speak.

The service will be offered at $9.99 per month, in line with major rivals, and it will offer a competitive catalog of songs, the sources said. Amazon is finalizing licenses with labels for the service, which likely will be launched in late summer or early fall, the sources said. Amazon, which offers a free streaming music service with a limited catalog to subscribers of its Prime shipping and video service, did not respond to a request for comment about the new, full-fledged music plan.

Compared to Amazon Prime streaming music? Better selection maybe?

Can I stream to my hard drive for offline listening? If I don't listen to the rap genre can I get a cheaper rate? Is there album art work with the music?

That's what I'm wondering, why are they launching another music service. Their prime service is okay, but the library is missing a lot.

Do they know how big the library will be,I have mp3 rocket and they have a limited library a d I need some more 80's songs.

Who cares. Been happy with Pandora at 5 bucks a month for many many years. It's basically background music for me anyways. I don't know how this would be better than spotify.

*is currently streaming music from Amazon Music*

wait. they're making another service? or... are they just re-announcing the service that I already use? lol

I use Prime music about every day. Overall their selection is ok. I'm not much for what is mainstream; can't stand what passes for music now a days.
My taste in music now is more toward classical and "space music" which is ambient, atmospheric synth; as I always called it; but liberals and hippies started calling it "new age" back in the 80s.
Hate that because it has NOTHING to do with new age philosophy.

I might suggest you check out the soundtrack for the new game Stellaris. It's by Andreas Waldetoft. So far I am really enjoying the chill (yet epic?) synth. The game and OST were just released last month. I am not sure if you can buy it separately yet, but it is "available" in full on YouTube.

On topic. I use Amazon Prime Music as my primary music streaming app. I don't do much music streaming, but every now and then I need just something, anything, on and so far it has fit the bill for that. Never the type of music that I really love, but always something I am content to have on. Hopefully the Prime Music service does not degrade at all.

NICE. It's Epic. Definitely a sound track though. But yeah, I could listen to that for enjoyment alone. (y)
