HTC 10

Im getting a full day of use on a charge, which is good enough for sure, but I see people getting two days. Am I doing something wrong, or do they just not use their phones?
It really depends on what you do with it. My 10 gets 5.5 hours of SOT if I play a game. It idles at about 0.6%/hr if signal is strong.

Two days is really 40 hours instead of 48 hours so that's about 25% battery lost to idle in that time. 75% of 5.5 hours means about four hours of SOT across two days which is a fairly light load.

So it's not like those users aren't using their phones at all, but they're just checking emails, sending some texts and doing a bit of web browsing.

That Viper ROM is bad freaking ass WOW
[ROM] 05/06 Viper10 1.3.0 ◦ Tweaks | HUB | OTA ◦ Working Secure Boot - ALL Carriers

But this guys ROM's have always been my go to ROM for an HTC phone, Badnewz just knows how to build a solid stable ROM, with excellent battery life, and smooth performance;
[ROM] ICE v1.1.1 Stable | Sense 8 |5th June | INT/VZW/TMO | Tweaks | Nightlies

I'm on Viper now but thinking of switching to LeeDroid. I like Viper, but it is like they are getting rid of bloat and then adding 20x more bloat of there own (in terms of customization, but getting excessive with some of them). Seems people are getting the best battery life with LeeDroid right now also. For being basically a 1-man team, he is pushing out a substantial amount of updates in comparison to Team Viper. Decisions, decisions...

Been on LeeDrOiD ROM, myself since I got my 10 last week, it's been great, get like 6h Screen On time.

But ICE ROM I hear is just as good, if not better battery life.

Any good tempered glass protectors you recommend for this phone, that don't give that halo effect ?

The only one I am seeing getting good reviews is the Verizon Wireless one you can get in store/online. It doesn't cover the whole screen, but people say it is the only one that not only doesn't give a halo, but one that really sticks to the screen well (someone said you're likely to break the protector trying to get it off, lol).

Other than that, there isn't really one. I hate the whole curved glass trend. I have a Spigen Crystal for now.

I do too, though I expect that it is here to stay. The phones look so pretty with the curved screen (until they get all scratched up).

Been trying to root my 10 for a couple days, but can't get TWRP to install after unlocking the bootloader. I keep getting "failed to boot in recovery mode" errors no matter which TWRP I try. :(

EDIT: And, I think I now understand my problem. All of the tutorials/tools for unlocking BL, TWRP, rooting are for unlocked HTC 10 devices. Mine is T-Mo. Not saying that's definitely the reason, but it's the only thing I've found, so far.

Thought the t-mobile HTC 10 was basically the equivalent to the Unlocked version (t-mobile doesn't lock anything down). If you can unlock the bootloader, you should be able to fastboot the TWRP recovery (in download mode: 'fastboot flash recovery twrp-file-path-here'). You MUST be on TWRP 3.0.2-2 at a minimum

I've had ViperROM on mine for about two weeks now (maybe a bit more). This morning I left for work. I'm doing a 4-day trip. When I got in my car, the bluetooth didn't connect. I looked at it and the bluetooth was turning on an off, repeatedly, about every second. I decided to reboot. It rebooted in the TWRP. Apparently, my ViperROM install got corrupted somehow.

So, take my bad experience, and back up your install.

I'm trying to download Viper on a crappy hotel internet connection and it's saying that it will take 5 hours. Two day without a cell phone is like being in hell.

Hope you're right. I'll keep trying.

Basically, there is a reason that there is not a separate T-Mobile HTC 10 forum on XDA (there is one for Verizon and Sprint since they lock their crap down) since it is basically the unlocked variant.

This was a known issue with the last update (documented on their XDA thread). Their brand-new full-rom 1.4 should have it fixed. LeeDroid and ViperTeam make updates constantly it seems, I am very impressed. I switched to LeeDroid yesterday, but getting same battery-life as Viper, so may switch back to Viper again since I love their new setting quicktiles.

Great. Good thing I wasted 5 hours downloading 1.3 last night, only to find that 1.4 came out today. <sigh>

To be fair, 1.4 came out 2 days ago. I installed it yesterday. But that's just nitpicking.

Expect updates pretty often, and you can always take the incremental OTA update right from Viper. it's in their Venom Tweaks app under Advanced. Was a 95mb download, vs what, 1.4GB?

I assume you're using this guide: [Guide] Root (Optionally s-off) and Keep your radio working - Now Easier 5/11/2016

Are you following it exactly and which step are you at?
I've unlocked the bootloader.

Every time I try to install any version of TWRP (latest is 3.0.2-4-pme.img) I get an error message stating "failed to boot in recovery mode." Haven't had time to work on it today, so I'm pretty much stuck here. Will try again ASAP. Fortunately, the phone still is fully functional.

Try using the command from the download mode (use volume keys to select). Or Bootloader if you've already tried that.

The fastboot commands to send the recovery IMG file (make sure you've renamed). Put the screenshot of the result of the fastboot command after you run it.

Assuming you are fastbooting the twrp image through download mode (not while in the bootloader)?

This phone just keeps getting better and better through updates (and ROM updates). They have basically fixed all the issues with the camera. No more lens flare (due to smudges on camera lens), the low-light is greatly improved, and it focuses blisteringly fast now. Basically the perfect phone

Do you all run a launcher on the 10 like Nova or Action ? Or just run with stock HTC Home ?

I like Nova since I paid for Prime and it does the little unread numbers tags better than the stock launcher. I also prefer a sideways app drawer.

But the stock home isn't bad.

I run Nova mainly because I swap phones so much, being able to basically restore my backups constantly does wonders.

Nova all the way. I even paid the few bucks for the Pro version. It's that good!

I haven't checked this particular thread in weeks. Didn't realize I never tried to finish rooting my 10 until re-reading some of my old posts. That will be item #1 on tomorrow's agenda.

Just rooted mine this weekend so I could get Adaway back on it. I keep forgetting how much it changes the way I feel about a phone.
Went for sideload root for, well, just because. Supposedly it doesn't mess up the radios

I'm keeping my M8 for now. The 10 looks nice, but not big enough difference for me to switch...

FINALLY got my HTC 10 rooted, today. :D

Now, it's time for some cool ROMs and tweaks. What's the best thing to delete or at least deactivate unwanted T-Mo and other apps? I thought Titanium Backup Pro could do it, but don't want to buy if it can't.

Any of the actual, non-stock ROMs should remove them, LeeDroid, I.C.E., ummm... that other one... Viper!, that's it. I think they are all European based, so when they say T-mo, compatable, they may be talking about Deutche Telecom, I'm not sure.
Bad Boyz is supposed to be US based, but I haven't checked for carrier compatability yet. I'm actually fine with root and adaway on stock, now that I have the updated T-mobile RUU on mine.

No, all of those three when they say "T-Mobile" are the US version. Honestly, you should just choose "US Unlocked" and it will give you VoLTE and Wifi Calling, without the bullshit T-Mobile bloat.

T-mobile bloat? We aren't talking Verizon or AT&T on a Samsung device. The only app that tmobile loaded that I can see doing anything atm is the Lookout Anti-virus, and it seems to be mostly harmless. I actually use the t-mobile VM app and like it once the 10 day trial is up and I can tell it to leave me alone.
