Looks like I was (thankfully) wrong about the pricing on the GTX 1080 and AIB partners will staying very close to the promised $599 msrp for "no frills" models. :D

$610 - stock clocked, no frills blower (reference board)
$620 - stock clocked (reference board), ACX cooler
$650 - super clocked (reference board), ACX cooler
$680 - FTW (custom board), ACX cooler
$700 - Founders Edition (reference board), fancy blower
$700+ - Classified (custom board), ACX cooler

1080 Hydro Copper and Hybrid coming soon apparently (traditionally reference boards).

*Edit
Looks like both the Hydro Copper and the Hybrid are going to have dual 8 pin connectors this go around.

I went ahead and preordered the superclocked on their website this morning. Looking forward to it.

Same here! I did it last night around 12AM Pacific. Now it shows "Auto-Notify". I like EVGA but their website was atrocious yesterday.

Yes it was....... It was probably partly my fault for spamming their site 20+ times yesterday trying to preorder a card.

Seems like a high but not unreasonable price for a GTX 1080 with the ACX cooler..... But I am not coming from a GTX 980TI either. Pricing is relative to the consumer... In a few months when all the excitement cools off, it will be time to add a second one for SLI.

If I had two GTX 980 TI's in SLI, I wouldn't be upgrading either.

The FE edition though... that is severely overpriced and worthy of avoiding.

Why can't they make an aircooled version that looks like the hybrid but with 2 fans. Everything else looks very ugly, FE included.

I bit the bullet on the FTW edition yesterday. Spent more than I was planning to.

Hybrid might be custom pcb this time I think I see two power connectors:

You're right... Two 8 pin connectors. I just saw a picture of the Hydro Copper and it had two 8 pins also. That's pretty awesome. :D

It's just a mistake. It was correct before with the Classified and FTW at the top and saying Great. I guess they messed up when they removed the classified from that chart.

What is typically the difference between the Classified and the FTW boards? Not sure if it will be worth the extra ~$40

Personally, I think the $609 base card looks great. Better than the FE edition and much cheaper for sure. If I had that kind of dough to throw around, that'll be the one I'll be after since it's a blower style and not an open air style. I've had too many open air style that just heat up my case and runs at 90C+ (I'm looking at you 7970's).

Since I rarely purchase cards I'm tempted to cash out some of my credit card cashback and splurge a little more than I'd like if I can get a solid card. Had my heart set on an MSI Gamer X - but if they are staring that at 700 - for the specs I've seen, there seems to be better value out there. I know I'm probably spitting hairs. But at this point the EVGA FTW model is looking quite good. Even better value (but more of a risk on quality) is the Asus ROG Strix OC.

Even entertaining the Gigabyte Xtreme model if I were to say "fuck it" and go to that 700 dollar line.

Since a lot of the custom cards will be coming out in the next week or two... seems I just need to forget these things exist, and let reviews come up first. When spending that level of money on a single part, I can wait an extra week or 3 lol. As tempted as it is to pre-order direct or something, I'll probably hold out for amazon stock since I'll be able to get 3% cashback right off the top. (and no taxes)

my only worry with the 2 8 pins, what if thats just a mock image, and the specs (215 watt / 8 pin) is correct. 215 watt power draw can easily be done on the 1 connector as its good for up to 255w.

it doesnt say 8 pin x2

Anyone know when these are said to release? I've already picked up a 6700K, Maximus VIII Formula, 32GB Trident Z, Would really prefer to break my loop down once not twice to later replace my 290X with a 1080 no ref card.

FTW is priced under the FE. Nice. Can't wait to see what it can do with the beefed up power. Hopefully they're not being forced by NVIDIA to keep the power target low.

The Classified typically gets even more power than the FTW version. The 980 Ti Classy had a 14+3 power phase design while the FTW had 8+2.

Plus a larger cooler. On the 980Ti, the FTW has the "standard" ACX cooler (extends just a bit beyond the slot bracket) whereas the Classy has a larger cooler (extends about an inch beyond the slot bracket).

You’ll also see the optional EVGA Power Link adapter, which allows you to plug in cables at the front edge of the card, for cleaner cable management.

No offense but for the damn price of these cards they should include the power link to re-position the plugs. I mean come on.

Got my card ~2 hours ago. ACX 3.

Took me about 25 minutes to peel off all of the plastic on the card, because EVGA put plastic and then bolted bolts ontop of it, so that there would be plastic left over when you try to remove it.. didn't get all of it.

I put it in and install drivers and my PC freezes within 5 minutes,

I restart and go to benchmark rise of the tomb raider to see if it would crash again and when the game opens up in the menu I hear the worst sound, not its fans, but some sort of crazy buzzing. I know cards can make a buzzing sound at high FPS, so i run the benchmark but it still made the noise the whole way through, going to get ear damage from this....

There is no buzzing on the desktop, but when i alt tab to tomb raider it starts instantly.

not sure what to do atm.

RMA. However, what's your config and especially psu?

I had a 780 and a 980ti FTW before it which take more watts so I don't think its the PSU. its a 3 month old corsair AX1200i

I just launched tomb raider again and didnt even get to the menu, 0x887A0006: DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG edit: twice in a row now. edit: 3. yeah its bad, will try some things but its looking like its going back... sigh

Sounds like a bad card. I had a GTX 780 do this to me, which I exchanged for another that worked flawlessly out of the box.

Just to ask the stupid question and get it out of the way: did you uninstall the old drivers before installing the new card? Before initiating an RMA I would do a DDU cleanup and reinstall the drivers to make sure nothing funny software-wise is going on.

I thought so. Then it's definitely card. RMA and don't bother.

I tried that just now, DDU has never helped me before and it didnt fix it now.

when the benchmark for tomb raider completed from a cold boot (that I cant even launch now) I got 58fps, I got 55fps with the 980ti FTW, I should've just stuck to that card.

no stock in newegg, so they said I might get a refund instead of a replacement (even though its a replacement only policy).

Should I even bother trying with the may 26 driver? I installed the june 7th one.

I agree with Raendor's comment on the error message. If you can't get a replacement from Newegg, maybe go directly to EVGA and see what they say.
