Acer X34 has too many problems... what's the best 27" g-sync monitor?

I've purchased an Acer X34 (ultrawide 21:9 monitor) and I absolutely love it except for the problems. (monitor keeps showing connected/disconnected even with different cables, large green line on the right hand of the screen but only sometimes, scanlines on the left of screen, etc)

Anyways, I'm going to try to get a replacement but if it also has problems I'm going to go back to 16:9 or 16:10.

With that said, what's the best gaming monitor with the following criteria:

  • 24 - 27" (preferably 27")
  • IPS
  • 100 Hz or higher
  • G-Sync

Does anything fit that bill? ...and is anything with those specifications considered "extremely good" with little to no blacklight bleed, etc?

Thanks for any advice!

I don't think there's anything currently that you don't have to play the returns game with.

There's plenty of good specced 27", I think you just have to pull the trigger, hope for the best, and be willing to send it back if there's too much bleed/dead-pixels etc

Your only choices right now that fit your criteria (as far as I'm aware) are:
  • Acer Predator XB271HU
  • ASUS ROG PG279Q
Both of these use the same AUO AHVA panel with similar issues, but the Acer seems to be better reviewed than the ASUS. The panel is 144 Hz native, but can be overclocked up to 165 Hz.

FWIW my last 4 monitors have all been from ASUS and I've never had any issues with excessive BLB, dead pixels or anything else. My current PG278Q had some corner discoloration and uniformity issues out of the box, but those went away after a week of use.

My first hand impression, from going to an expo last year, was that XB271HU is far better than PG279Q. I saw less IPS glow/BLB on 271 displaying dark content than I did on PG279Q displaying bright content, so my impression with PG279Q is pretty shoddy (I am one of the few people who hates IPS glow worse than TN panel black crush, and by a mile).

The problem I have is, however, that XB271HU is nearly $200 more expensive than XB270HU.

I am returning two xb271hu and going back to my xb270hu due to the fact hdmi has issues with game consoles. Some games gave me issues where my vizio tv does not have any issues with the same hdmi cable. Basically got a blank screen and ticking sounds.. Also the speakers suck on the xb271hu.
Ill save my money and wait until 4k 144hz

I was debating between x34 vs 271HU last couple days, ended up getting 271HU. Waiting for me in the box at home.
Knowing that i could get 75hz x34 made me get the cheaper monitor that i will sell once x34p is out. :S

Wow...I currently have a perfect XB270HU but was thinking about getting the XB271HU to do both PC and consoles. That's really unfortunate but I will wait for a true upgrade a la OLED monitors or the just revealed 4K 144Hz Asus monitor.

XB271HU.

People reporting excessive back light bleed need to properly calibrate their monitor using hardware that calibrates the monitors color/brightness/gamma. Guarantee those people with excessive back light bleed are running too high brightness.

Indeed. I can't count how many time I see customer reviews complaining about BLB that was "fixed" by turning the brightness down...

I've never seen an IPS monitor without any backlight bleed, but it's very minor on good ones.

With my 271HU i have like no light bleed at all. Very impressed but one dead pixel in center of the screen is so annoying. An eye sore when ever windows 10 loads up hah.

I don't have really have any problems with my X34 either, well nothing I'd consider major. Only can see the scanlines in that G-Sync tech demo. The PG279Q I tried had a lot more flaws.

I've been eyeing an Acer Predator XB271HU but I wonder how good the warranty service on their monitors is if I have any problems down the road. Anyone here have carnal knowledge of that? I remember getting fucked on the warranty for one of their laptops once, years ago.
