Installed my GTX1080 today only to discover that disappointingly, although perhaps unsurprisingly, it does not support the Dell UP3214Q. I have ordered a UP3216Q to replace it which is supported by modern graphics cards, but I'm just wondering, is there any update (be it software or firmware) that can be applied to enable MST support on the 10 series, or is that no longer supported end of story?

Thanks in advance

Apparently, Dell could replace it for you:
Dell UP3214Q Review
Note: The firmware update that I installed is not being provided to end users. You would need to exchange your monitor for a refurbished one with the updated firmware from Dell. More details can be read in the thread on Dell's website here.

I will add, that just from some brief searching around, this monitor seems like a half baked dud.

Looks like you can use it with HDMI but are limited to 30Hz...

From what I gather, Dell only replace 3214s with other 3214s which is no real use in this case. The firmware patches are supposed to improve the chance of getting DP Sync, but this is based on so many variables already, from which DP port is used, the length of the cable, even the temperature of the cable itself. DP 1.2 has been so unreliable and inconsistent I can't wait to ditch it for HDMI 2. I'm using HDMI1 at the moment to get 1080p60 in game and 2160p30 at desktop, but at the moment using HDMI stops me from changing colour settings in game which is annoying - hopefully something I'll be able to resolve.
