I agree, it looks nice but you're completely screwed if it dies on you and you have to deal with Asus RMA

You're right.

Last years Classy came in only $50 more. If this sells for anything less then $680, I'm on it.
I can use a DP to HDMI 2.0 adapter from Amazon to have dual VR and desktop.

I'm either going 1080 classy at launch for $699 or less OR buying a cheaper 1070 and then a classy 1080ti later. Last time I bought a 980 and then sold it and got a 980 ti classy and that ended up being quite pricey.

People who buy Founder's edition for $699 are going to look really stupid for buying that today instead of waiting a few weeks for a classified for the same price.
Yup. But if they were paying attention, they knew that, and they accepted it to get their card a bit faster.

That looks Great I like how they replaced all that extra space with some kinda Mesh I don't even know if I had 8 pin connections on my Power Supply have to check I think I do.
I just used that as my Lock Screen and Wallpaper.

Good plan.

But I have a feeling the Ti will arrive next year and probably $849 FE. There's no pressure from AMD to release it this year.
I can just buy another used Classy for $250 less or so when the Ti is released.

I like it.... I will be waiting out this first batch I think though still... Hopefully the TI train will come chug chug chugging around soon. :) (maybe nov/dec?)

PS the red light coming through that mesh though is da slick sheeeit.

Probably more like low 300s, but yeah that's a plan. SLI looks like it's scaling better than ever now so that might be the way to go.

All of the 1080 SLI numbers are above 60fps on high to max settings in 4K, using stock clocks. With OC, I'm sure everything can be played maxed out.

Now if the Ti can get within 20% of 1080 SLI, then we will have a different discussion. But like you said earlier, selling 1080s to get a 1080Ti will net a pretty big loss. I'll stick with the 1080s until Volta Ti and rebuild my entire PC around the new Intel enthusiast platform. I've been doing well by ignoring the yearly upgrade cycles on everything but GPU's, but I'll start now.

Well, I'll say this much--I got an open-box ASUS card for my last purchase--670 DCII 4 GB. It wouldn't even boot in my PC. I did an ASUS RMA and got a card back (not sure if same or not) that the mounting bracket was bent up like a pretzel. I was getting a little desperate, but I found the ASUS rep here on the [H} forums. He had me send the defective card to him personally, and had a retail-boxed, fully working card in my hands ASAP. It's still my gaming card, waiting to see where 1070's shake out for an upgrade.

ASUS RMA may be crazy, but [H] community ASUS RMA is what great customer service should always be. Use your connections to your advantage, AIB's take this site seriously.

I am glad we don't have issues with RMA's like that in New Zealand. We just take them back to the place of purchase and they usually just give us a new one. On the very odd occasion, we need to send it away for testing. That has only ever happened once to me though in the past.

They all have different brand VRM Phases. I wish someone with knowledge could comment about the quality of the different Phases.

Yeah, more doesn't always mean better. Will be very interested to see the reviews. I personally am happy to have a Classified pre-ordered for now.

Anyone see any more details pictures of the ACX 3.0? Specifically the area contacting the processor. Sounds like they have improved how that's done significantly from descriptions, but haven't seen any pics yet.

How did you preorder a classified? I only saw preorders for the FTW.

I did with a local retailer, memoryexpress. Basically just getting to head of the line when they finally get them in. Likely I'll get it a while after people that are quick to pre-order on the EVGA site.

the ACX2.0 fans could get very loud when spooled up... wondering how the noise will be on these.

The FTW is on the EVGA website - NOT a preorder yet, but it has the price: $679

Which means that we can probably expect the Classified to be in that ballpark, though I am betting on closer to $699.

Classified isn't up, but it probably will be soon.
