Finally got my XBOne and need to snag a good deal on XBox Live. Reg price us around $60 now. I use to find deals for $30'ish back when my XB360 was working (it's been about 1.5 years).

Are there any good places to look other than the usual (Amazon, NewEgg, GameStop).

Thanks. Like I said, it's been a while since I've played and looking forward to getting back into it a bit with OverWatch coming out.

Amazon still regularly has sales on Live subscriptions, as far as I'm aware. I did get a 12-month subscription code from Newegg last year for $40 USD. I'd utilize a site like SlickDeals to be alerted as to when they go on sale. I would just steer clear of grey market sites like CDKeys and the like.

I've been getting my Xbox Live off of ebay for about $35 for the past 3 years. I just buy a 12 month code and usually within an hour I've gotten the code redeemed it on xbox.com and good til the following year.

EDIT: Just doing a quick search on ebay and amazon looks like $50 is the going rate at the moment.

ve boughten 2 12 month cards from cjscdkeys and they worked great.

Thanks for the heads up! I'll keep my tabs on it and snag one when the time looks right. $40 is better than $60 any day for sure.

Cheers!

It's only $60 a year ($5 a month) how much more of a deal do you want? LOL

Well when you can get it for $30-$40/month why waste money you don't have to. Thats a 30%-50% saving which is a free monthly coffee in my eyes. May not be much but when ever one nickel and dimes ya it adds up but if you enjoy throwing money out the door all the power to you!

If I am getting my money's worth, am I really throwing it out the window?

Yes, if I stop at the gas station to fuel up and buy a bag of chips I'm throwing money out the window. I could go to a real storea and either get the same size of chips for half the price or twice as many for the same price. I may enjoy those chips but I still threw it out the Windows because I was to impatiant/lazy to go to the store

I don't see it that way. It's ONLY $60 and I get more than enough value/entertainment out of Xbox Live.

If $60 is too steep a price, then it seems people should rethink their priorities in life.

like you said it is only $60 and when you look at it that way your right BUT I look at things in percentages and total savings I can make by being cheap all the time lol. If I can save myself 30% by purchasing it else where why would i throw my money out the door by paying more for it at the official store? By your logic why bother buying games from sites like green man gaming or waiting for steam sales? Games are ONLY $60-$80 so what the point in trying to get them for $40 or $50? Except that it add's up, every little thing you can save a few bucks on can turn into a decent chunk of change.

end of the day IMO paying a higher price for something when you can knowingly get it for cheaper is the same as opening your wallet and using your money to start a fire when there's perfectly good wood to burn 20 ft away from you in a bush.

I agree with you. I love a good deal but at $60/year for XBL, I think it's a good deal. $5 a month you know? But anyways, I don't want to eat up this whole thread about what's a good deal and what it isn't. :)

As for the prices of games, they haven't changed all that much since the 80's. If anything, they have actually come down in price. I remember paying $60-$90 for Sega and Nintendo games.

Remember the FX chips on Nintendo and the Virtua Racing on Genesis? That added a bit for cost ($100 for Virtua Racing). $70 for Donkey Kong Country and it wasn't even an FX title, IIRC.

Paul Thurrott tweeted about 15 minutes ago that Amazon.com is offering 12 month Xbox Live membership digital codes at $20 off. So they are now $39.99, but there's no indication how long this will last.
