As this is my first post, I would like to say hi for everyone in this forum. I'm glad that I've found the place with such a great amount of information.

Next week, I'm going to buy 55 inch 4K TV. It will be used mainly as a PC monitor, connected with the computer via HDMI.

Intended use of the TV:

60% of time I'm going to use it to browse Internet, read articles, work on excel sheets and other editors
10%: watching movies, mainly from the Internet
10%: gaming
20%: watching traditional TV

I'm considering a choice between these two: Samsung 55KS7000 and Sony 55X850C. So far, I've found many informations about Sony, confirming that it's suitable for such use (unless I'm wrong?). The problem is with getting any infomation about 55KS7000. Before, I planned to buy 55JU7000 but I've changed my mind cause KS is now available in almost the same prices.

I know that the product is new on the market but I wonder if anyone of you have experience in using Samsung 55KS7000 as a PC monitor ? Do you know if it supports chroma subsampling 4:4:4 in all modes (Samsung staff claims that it does but without 120 Hz for Full HD) and what is the level of input lag ?

And the last question: which one of these two would you subjectively recommend for such use?:)

Thanks for any help

What distance will you be sitting from it?

I used a 48js9000 as a pc gaming monitor, it was about 36 inches away. I would say to use a 55 inch for a monitor you would at least want 40-48 inches away from you. You will have to give it a couple of days to get use to the large size, the only thing that bothered me about the js9000 as a pc monitor was the PWM, movement just caused headaches for me, especially close like I was sitting.

I'll be sitting about 2,00 - 2,50 meters from the screen. I guess it's around 80-100 inches :) But the table is moveable so I can always change the distance.

One of the things that I was worried about was if this size of monitor will be suitable / helthy for my eyes and head. But I think it won't be a problem, I can always move and sit closer or farther. I hope the problem with PWM and the movement will be solved in KS7000. Did you have it only when gaming ?

By the way, I've checked this TV and realized that KS7000 model is available only on european market. I hope it has similar parameters to KS8000 which was recommended as one of the best PC monitors on rtings.com.

The ks7000 could be different then the ks8000, checking Samsungs website, it looks like they both are SUHDTV's. Input lag on the ks8000 is 20.9ms and that is including the 18ms pixel response, so it has about 2ms of input lag which is very very low for a tv.

I odnt know if the ks7000 has the same input lag, I would seriously make sure it does before buying as some Samsungs can go up to 35-40ms of input lag depending on the model.

If your sitting 2.5meters away ( 7ft ) then it won't be an issue, I game on a 55 inch 1080p oled at 40 inches away lol!!

I couldn't find any KS7000 review but I've found two reviews of 55KS7500, which is a curved version of KS7000. One is on hdtvtest.co.uk and another on avforums. The first test confirmed that input lag on KS7500 is 21,7 ms, the second: 21 ms (of course - on game mode. On movie mode it's 120 ms :) The first review also confirmed that KS7500 supports chroma 4:4:4 both for Full HD and 4K 60 Hz. I suppose the results for KS7000 would be the same.

Do you know if there is any free software that can be used to test TV in a shop (to check chroma, input lag or other important characteristis - if there are any more) ? In friday I'm going to visit some TV stores with my laptop..

I am sure the ks7000 has the same exact specs for input lag, 4:4:4 chroma and 4k 60hz. They all use the same processor and hook up box.

If you want the 55ks7000, I say go for it. I checked out these new Samsungs yesterday at Best Buy and they are impressive, you will love it!

The decision has been made and new 55KS7000 is waiting in the car for unpacking :). I'll let you know how it works...

If you have any questions regarding this TV and it's cooperation with PC, just don't hesitate to ask.

Hi krzykp, and do you like the KS7000? I was wondering how excel sheets are shown? Is it sharp?
