Would I buy a 3D printed motorcycle? Hell yeah! Would you pay $56,000 for it? Hell no! Even with a limited run of only fifty, there is no way I would pay that kind of money for this thing. What about you?

Fuck no. That's a bycicle with a 3D printed frame, and an electric motor slapped on it. That's worth about 1000 at best.

Yea, putting a fat frame on it doesn't magically turn a bicycle into a motorcycle.

If the frame is carbon fiber it's worth a bit more than $1,000.00.
it's aluminium (well aluminum-magnesium-scandium)

Edit: Not sure if I'd want to buy something engineered by a company that can't even spell strucutre :)

Tesla Model 3 or 3d-printed deathtrap? Hmmmm. Think I'll take the Model 3.

Tesla Model 3, not for me. I'd do a toy like a the bike. A fully optioned Camero SS is about 51k, a base vette is 55k, a Shelby Mustang is 49k... shit even an RC 350 F decked out comes in less than this "sport bike" and that could be a daily driver. Love the Tesla S with Ludicrous mode (my cousin has one), but I would much rather have any of the aforementioned for 50k than a model 3 when comparing to a toy bicycle!

While it is neat, I can pretty much have every bike I want for 56k - A concours at 16k for touring, a fj09 at 10k for around town/hooliganism, a drz400 at 8k for offroad... and I dunno, a gold wing at 26k for going all out across the continent?

5K for a specialised frame even if 3D printed.
50K = ripoff.

Although I agree with it being overpriced, I think you might have missed a decimal place with your estimates. If that fork is the lowest end model in its series, it alone retails for close to $1k BoXXer RC

High end mountain bikes are in the $6-10k range, something with a custom frame would reasonably be more expensive than that, not including the electric motor.

Yea, I paid $1200.00 just for an aluminum frame mountain bike.

Looks like a trial bike. I was bummed out that the pictures posted were not someone cruising a wooden roller coaster with it!

As I wouldn't buy an 50K bicycle even if I could afford it, I wouldn't buy an 1K fork either. Basically 1K is what I'd be comfortable paying for a bicycle. And this for all intents and purposes looks like a bicycle.

Put a real engine in it and I might consider it depending on specs. A dinky little electric motor that goes 50mph max with limited range? fuck no.

Bless the crazy bastards who will buy this, because they fund the chance for me to buy a cheaper version in the future. The alloy composition and weld points of the frame are interesting. After seeing some of the new commercial printers that some of the big manufactures are buying it might be possible to "print" a whole frame without welds in the future. I doubt such an option would be available to a company this size though. The power to weight ration of this bike would make it very interesting, people going on about needing a bigger engine haven't spent much time on bikes. Sure it has a limited top speed (gearing) and range (batteries), but this thing would run circles around bigger bikes in the twisties. I love big bikes and I love small bikes, they all have a place in this world. Also a silent bike would be pretty awesome for some trips.

I was looking at the BMW M2 earlier today and decided to configure it as I'd do, just to see the cost. It was less than this bike. I'm sure someone, well, 50 someones, will buy this. I'm just very clearly not one of them.

Please then enlighten us oh all knowing motorcyclist what the requirements are for a two wheeled vehicle that has front and rear brakes, headlight, turn/brake signals, and goes 50mph to be labeled as a motorcycle.

Well besides the DMV definition of it: DMV

A motorcycle would be legal to drive on a freeway. I would say being able to reach freeway speeds is a requirement.

And yes, those are bicycle wheels, tires, brakes and shocks. kids in my neighborhood have been putting motors on bicycles for years, but that doesn't make them motorcycles.
