The EVGA B stock has a couple 970's for 249$ and up. That is if you don't mind a 1yr warranty. Here is the website for people that don't know about it , EVGA - Products - B-Stock
That is true but the 1070 comes in at 379 which for some is more than their budget. To each their own I suppose.Don't think I'd pay $250 for a 970 with the 1070 right around the corner, but if you need something /today/ it's not bad.

I happened to purchase a 970 before the cat was let out of the bag. It was still a good bang for the buck. But with the "fiasco", when I started playing RSS, I had to make sure that when changing the graphics settings which shows the amount of VRAM used, I stayed below 3.5GB. Also monitored VRAM usage with Asus GPU Tweak to ensure I was staying under.379 is cheap if you are talking bang for buck. It puts a nice gap between the 970. I never did get over the 970s 3.5gb vram fiasco.
I think that in 6 months time these cards will flooding the used market for $100 or so,,,,the new cards are that much better
970 in SLI a good idea?
$100? You're hallucinating.
I see you already have one, so I would say its not a BAD idea. The price is the key, if you can get a great deal on a new or used one, then give it a try. SLI is fun to play with and can give your system more life before full upgrade. The RAM limitations aren't going to go away in SLI though and although its significantly faster than a single card it still isn't as smooth as an equivalently powerful single GPU card.970 in SLI a good idea?
