Doom 4 E3 reveal.

Maybe it's because the game is so fast and hectic that I don't notice, but as I was running around frantically, I did see one stop chasing me and attack another. Also, after I died one time, I did notice one attacking another one.
I did see one enemy attacking another as I came around the corner earlier.

Gotta say, loving this game so far. Plays great on my rig. The graphics are top notch, only thing I turned off was motion blur because it's annoying AF and messes with my aim. I really like the weapon and armor upgrades, makes it a little more interesting -- but overall it's the same kinda Doom campaign that I expected. Lots of demons. I go for as many glory kills as I can, and ripping the big baddies apart with the chainsaw is pretty satisfying as well. Just made it through the first 3 or so levels to the Argent Tower. I haven't looked into the game prior in terms of what each level is like and the bosses, but I'm excited for some boss fights. I have NO desire to play the multiplayer in this game after watching a couple YouTube videos, was never a Quake guy, and this reminds me too much of it, but for getting it from cdkeys.com for $35 I would say the money was well worth the campaign and I'm not even that far in.

How are you guys disabling motion blur? You can turn it down to Low but that's just the quality, it doesn't remove it.

I saw a hell knight and revenant attack other enemies. Not sure what triggered it, tho I suspect its just like the old games. I wasn't able to observe too much as I was too busy dodging, running, jumping and shooting. I'm loving this game. :D

Quite enjoying this game. They really nailed the game in my opinion. I'm playing on nightmare difficulty and the game is very challenging. First FPS i've played in a while that is actually difficult and fun to play. The enemy AI is pretty good and battles never play out the same. The game runs butter smooth on my 980 w/ pretty much max settings.

Haven't touched MP, but i'll be giving the SP multiple playthroughs due to how chaotic and rewarding the battles can be. Overall an excellent blend of oldschool style difficulty/design but with modern graphics and some other tweaks that make it a blast to play. I really appreciate how fast the game opens BTW. I've grown tired of the recent trend where you don't actually start playing a game for quite a bit. They throw you into the action in this game immediately, and it also does a good job of letting a player know if they chose too high of a difficulty level or not.

Really enjoying the game so far, although I'm playing it in small steps. After some testing I was able to keep lighting on Ultra and the rest on High/Medium. There seems to be a subtle difference between High and Ultra lighting in the sense the latter feels more vivid and has more contrast. I remember back then I did the same with Doom 3 as Ultra made the game feel more "alive" even if the differences were subtle.

Turning down/Disabling Depth of Field (Anti-aliasing) and reducing motion blur really gave a boost to my FPS.

I was a bit skeptical of the gameplay but I put in around 2 hours yesterday and I absolutely LOVE the game. I was not expecting the game to be this fun at all. Everything is so satisfying.

The only thing that I don't like so far is that you can control your character mid air. This is the only reason I've died so far. The sound track is also badass!

I just played for over an hour, the max temp I got on my card was 75 and that was with the side on. I watched the utilization and it was 100% the whole time as well.

What core clock is that with?

This feels pretty old school. I tried the hardest difficulty and no way my skills are not sharp enough for that. I feel old. This game plays FAST. The monsters are freakin relentless, the sound is thundering and terrifying through my overbuilt sound system. You have to have quake 3 type skills of mobility to survive the hoards which makes this a refreshing challenge. You can't just tank your way through. It really does sort of feel like you are making your way through hell, or at least headed in hell's general direction. Exceeds expectations but somehow I had none. Sort of glad they didn't review it yet I think it makes it more fun.

Found a 15% off code for the new Doom on CDKEYS.com so my total came to $32.49 for the game, so I went ahead and purchased it. I thought of installing the new 15.6.2 drivers, but am having no isses with the most recent WHQL drivers. Performance on my system is really good so far...and the graphics are really good. Looking forward to MP later tonight.

Was gonna wait and pick this up at a later date (damn backlog), but once I saw the hugely positive reviews this game was getting from PC gamers on the typical PC centric forums I knew I had to pick it up asap. Watched a little footage, looks great. Bought and downloading now.

Reading feedback, this game seems like it came at exactly the right time and presses a lot of the right buttons with PC gamers - the 'mindless shooter' genre, which used to be a staple of the PC gaming experience, hasn't exactly been flourishing in the past decade or so.

ok this is my launch option string now

+com_skipIntroVideo 1 +com_skipKeyPressOnLoadScreens 1 +menu_advanced_AllowAllSettings 1 +set m_smooth 0 +com_allowconsole 1

Skips intro videos, gives access to nightmare settings, remove mouse smoothing, and allows console in game with `

NOTE: you will have to have 6G of vmem or more to run the nightmare settings without huge fps hits it seems so use with caution.

I am maxing the game out at 4k on one 980ti with 365.19 drivers all options as high as they go and still getting 55 to 60fps most of the time with dips to 40s and one small room with a lot of "wet" looking textures I was in the 30s but for the most part it's incredibly smooth. There are only a couple of options that go past ULTRA to NIGHTMARE.. you need to cycle through them to find them.. I only found two. The game is using 5G of my video mem as it stands now. The only other game I have seen do that is The Division.

Where did my Chainsaw go?

I had this happen also and thought I lost it... just hit G. I wish it was part of the weapons cycle on the mouse wheel though.

By any chance has anyone had any issues with these new Nvidia drivers? Like this? : NVIDIA GeForce Game Ready 365.19 WHQL

^^ That happened to me last night. I was just browsing the Internet after I had played this for a while. No idea if there is any connections or not.

Having a blast playing this game. Playing on "Hurt Me Plenty" and it can be a little challenging at times.

"dons flamesuit"

I am playing this on XB1 and with a controller it plays nicely. Also has graphic options where I can adjust FOV and Motion Blur. Currently have my FOV maxed at 110. Looks great. :)

Now, flame away!

My PC rebooted while launching Doom last night. Not sure if it's related to the driver. Didn't catch if it was a BSOD.

No problems here with the drivers on either my desktop or laptop, they are both running W10.

I didn't realize there were a couple options that could go above Ultra...to Nightmare.

Kinda kills my framerate though it would seem...down to 30 FPS frequently.

Oh, and definitely remove mouse smoothing...can't believe that had that shit on by default with no menu option to remove. For as good of a PC game as this seems to be that is a massive oversight.

I had one of those video driver stopped responding messages while looking at some screenshots I took in game. This was right after upgrading to the 365.19 drivers and playing for a while. I launched the game again and went to adjust some IQ settings and it CTD'd on me.. I rebooted and all seems fine since. My PC has been really solid since I built it a few weeks ago, this is the first time any game or windows sort of glitched on me... might be just a case of new drivers and new game? Not sure. Win10 64

Just installed them and set SLI to AFR1 manually. No issues so far, only played for a short time, though.

BTW, I figured out what the weird grid artifact was...apparently related to TAA somehow. Unfortunately this game only has FXAA and SMAA without using some form of TAA, and both look kind of bad, so I am stuck with TAA. It's not too bad though, I guess.

Also, don't set those video settings I mentioned earlier to Nightmare...cuts framerate in half, or worse. ;)

I've only hit 30 once in one room FULL of shiny wet gore - the rest of the time I am in the 50s or at 60 - with dips in the 40s sometimes... I don't notice any stuttering until that one room and I saw my FPS at 30. Still and all I can fly all over these maps maxed out at 4k on one card so I am still amazed.

Definitely not a casual console kiddie or PC elitist. I enjoy games regardless of platform. Besides, I am enjoying Doom on a 58 inch Panansonic plasma. :D

I have an love my PS4 for some games.. like Until Dawn and ESO and some others... The only game I got on the PS4 I wish I had on the PC was Fallout 4. I still feel more at home with a mouse and kb for precision aiming and when shit storms me in that game I feel like a I really miss my mouse, lol.

Anyone else found the level
(Argent Tower) annoying? It felt more like a platformer than a shooter. Having said that, I'm having a lot of fun with this game.

Are you sure it's maxed? I get 90+ FPS most of the time with everything at High/Ultra but there are a couple of settings you can push to Nightmare, and those kill my framerate. I think they're Shadow Quality and something related to Virtual Texture Paging.

Yeah - I enabled those two to nightmare - and yes I took a hit - but not a huge one. What happened was I wasn't pegged at 60 all the time afterwards.. it was hovering around 55 and dipping into the 40s here and there but still felt totally smooth. - with your 970s you're hitting the vmem wall which is killing your fps.. I am running at 5G of vmem use with these two on nightmare.

Weird, maybe it pushes VRAM usage over the edge, because I was seeing massive drops after using those. I also didn't notice much graphical difference between Ultra and Nightmare so I guess it doesn't matter too much.

What's weird is that sometimes my framerate will stick at 60, sometimes it will go above...no real rhyme or reason for it.

It does - see my edit. That allow advanced menu disables the vmem check so nightmare is available to all people... Those settings are disabled on systems with cards with less than 5G of vmem I *think*. (6G might be the cut off point)

1300 something, what are you running? I'll change mine to whatever settings you're running and see how temps are. What is your fan set at?

1400mhz, fan is left to default, out of the box my card goes to 1380 then settles at 1367 pretty much. +250mhz ram, +8 core clock, powerlimit 110, +50mv core.

These are alternative settings where i don;t touch the core voltage at all and still its up around 85c.

85c is pretty warm... I am attacking my MSI with air and I rarely hit 70 now, that's +87mv, 109% power lim and 1501/7800 clocks... with these cards that vent hot air into the case it's important to keep good flow around them so heat doesn't pool.

Played for a few hours at ultra settings with rock solid 60fps, visuals are astounding, controls are responsive and the gameplay is fun - it's the game Doom3 should have been. Definitely has that replayability feel to it, where you'll want to replay for all the secrets or test your skill on higher difficulties.

Their environment artists also took full advantage of the higher polygon/lighting/particle etc budget they were given, nearly every single room/area shows effort put into hand crafting it. It's not very often a 'corridor shooter' wows you with it's indoor environments.

I've no clue whats up with it, just irritating that its running about as hot as a reference card and about as loud despite having a far larger heatsink and 3 fans instead of 1. Thats despite the fact asus claim "30% cooler" clear as day on the box.
