I've been using the windows 7 version of the Asus software in windows 10 without any issues on a sabertooth x79.

Hi, I've upgraded yesterday to Win10 and saw the latest BIOS "X79-DELUXE-ASUS-4805.CAP" available on the product page. I'm running the version prior to this, but I can't flash to this version via the flash utility in the BIOS, some warning about this CAP file is not a UEFI Bios. Is there any performance advantages in this new build?

Hi,

I have a Rampage IV and want to buy a new PCH/VRM waterblock for it, but the only blocks people make these days are for the Rampage IV black edition. Will blocks designed for the black edition work on my board?

That seems very strange that it won't let you upgrade.

I upgraded to that same BIOS from the one previous to that one a couple weeks ago and it worked fine.

I used a USB stick.

What media are you using? How is it formatted?

Did you try clearing CMOS?

Have you tried re-downloading it. Maybe the download got corrupted.

I will say that the added stability claims seem true as I had been having some kind of strange issues with the BIOS prior. It also seems like I can use a lower voltage for my overclock as well... but I haven't really done extensive testing.

I did switch from a manual voltage of 1.325v to a very minor offset voltage and also left power saving enabled.

You need to have the file on a FAT32 partition (e.g., FAT32 formatted USB key).
I installed it because I was hoping to solve my failing USB 3 ports (transfer works for a short while then I get "Invalid Device" or various other errors. This BIOS upgrade does not fix that issue. It's odd because the board has two different USB 3 controllers and both have the same issue (with different card readers).
Anyway, this update adds support for NVMe disks which do provide a big performance boost over regular SSDs.

So looking through this thread, i can install a intel 750 ssd on a x79 sabertooth, with two 980's in sli? for booting win 10?

Post questions, tips, tricks in this thread please for official ASUS support. :)

P9X79 Pro has developed (at least) two bad RAM slots. D1 and C1. This system current has 2 8 GB Corsair Dominator RAM sticks, not overclocked. (It had 4, but 2 went bad and I need to do an RMA with Corsair.)

My original, as built configuration was RAM in slots B1 and D1. When I started getting out of RAM error messages, I noticed that Task Manager reported that I had only 8 GB of RAM. So after some experimentation, I discovered that I could get the system to boot with 16 GB of RAM recognized, with RAM in slots A1 and B1. Now I know this is contrary to the user manual.
  • If I run my system like this long term, will this cause any damage?
  • How much would ASUS charge to repair this board? How long is the turnaround?
  • When Corsair sends back 2 good RAM sticks, which RAM slots should I use from A2 - D2?
  • If I decide to get an X99 board with socket 2011 V3, will my 3930K be compatible?

Thanks,

x509

Just got done building Sabertooth X79 with 3930K on WIndows 7 64-bit. The motherboard is using the latest BIOS 4801.
I went on the Asus site to find drivers. In my Device Manager I still have yellow exclamation marks on the: System Interrupt Controller, SM Bus Controller, PCI Simple Controller and numerous Base SImple Device.
I have tried to find the drivers for these on the Asus site but not having much luck.

Anyone else had this problem and knows where to go?

I'd grab the newest Intel Management Engine Interface, but I have to admit that while I have the same MB, I'm on Win10-64. No devices missing for me... If that doesn't work, post a screenshot of the device manager and I'll compare tomorrow!

Ram slots don't just go bad, you either have a dieing CPU or the CPU pins are bent(bent pins are fixable). Have you tried clearing CMOS see if it resets?

You might want to roll back to an earlier BIOS build to see if compatibility issues are causing this. I'm still at 4608 from 2013 on my Sabertooth X79.

Noob with Noob issue (maybe): I have Windows 10 64 bit on a Sabertooth x79 and Sandy Bridge 3930 i7 with Corsair Ram 16GB. I see ASUS went from saying this mobo is Win 10 ready to "Testing." Is the company researching the recent Windows 10 updating issues that cause settings to be altered in BIOS?

Had this happen two or three times in the last cycle of updates from 2017 update cycle. First one was something that I can only say appeared at first to be leakage on RAM and CPU but turned out the RAM was not being detected properly by mobo. Pulling and reseating sticks helped that. However, still had performance issues and turned out the XMP settings were altered by the update. I don't overclock, but the system thought I was after these updates. Did it again after the security fixes I received on 9/12/17. System was reading overclock for RAM and causing mobo not to communicate with the sticks properly. It caused crazy drops in speed and programs to go wonky, as you can imagine. I've had to go into the BIOS settings after POST to fix this and don't really want this to become the new normal, like having to keep telling the computer what my audio output device is after certain updates.

I have some technical know-how, but have no clue what Microsoft is doing differently in terms of patch deployment, nor can I say if ASUS mobo is in need of BIOS update. Have AI Suite II, build 4608 and has been stable. Updater tells me environment doesn't require update, but... do I need wait and see if a fix is forthcoming on ASUS' side? Should I manually update from support page?

Right now, I'm up and running. I attached HWMonitor reads after my fix and numbers I usually read like temp and utilization are fine. Not sure if 324 mHz is normal for memory or not.

Any information would be helpful regarding this issue and status of ASUS boards with "testing" next to them on support page.

My X79 has always been very picky about memory, I have never gotten it to read a full load of RAM (4gb sticks). But I didn't hear about the 'testing' thing, thanks for the heads up-= I'll try to look tonight.

I haven't really paid as much attention to the RAM readouts as I should have over last few years. Only really noticed the lags, system not picking up full RAM, etc. after Windows 10 updates this year. Didn't even consider this might be something with this model mobo. Hurray! More variables to consider.
:(

Let us know what you find- I have to admit I got my (junkyard-used parts) system running happy on 22 of 32 Gb and called it good...

I've been using 32GB (8x4GB Samsung ram) in my rig since I built it years ago. Never had any problems.

Mine was running 64GB but it was a waste for just gaming so I used half of it to upgrade a couple other computers I have and still run 32GB (4x8GB) without issue. This is on a Rampage IV Extreme.

Not entirely sure if this is all I can do to test for memory issues, but I checked the readings through the system BIOS: full reads on all 4 Corsair RAM sticks; Windows System detects full 16 GB amount; ran Windows Memory Diagnostic: passed; ran MemTest86 from PassMark off alternate boot passed 4 tests and no errors detected; did the basic benchmark without issue (not that it really does much other than bragging rights in the free version). The only times I have had issue with (that I am aware of, at least) memory/CPU is with the latest Windows updates from this year. I have no way of knowing if there were issues in the past or if any of these tests are enough, but it's all I got right now. I believe ASUS and Windows need to probably do some diagnostics-swapping to narrow down the issue with these new patches.

I can only speculate that they are optimized for the newer 2011 sockets and DDR4 memory and not for our stuff, so it's causing glitches. Might be the x79 itself being a poor manufacture run in general so the firmware is wonky...

However, I really just wanted to put out there that my specific board and memory seem to be fine in general but get messed up when Win10 updates come through. I believe I have done all I can to eliminate other possibilities but wonder if anyone has other diagnostic tools recommended or more information regarding ASUS redesignating the X79 Sabertooth as "Testing" for Win!0 compatibility.
