One of Naughty Dog’s biggest franchises is supposedly coming to an end. Sure, they could make another and continue trucking in money, but some would of us would rather have things end on a high note.

Problems occur when series go on and on, driven by financial factors rather than the desire to explore new ideas. I'm not even sure this works any more - Nintendo has banked on Mario, Donkey Kong and chums as money makers for decades now, yet finds itself in financial trouble. Surely the number of people who do a white weewee at the thought of a new Zelda game must go down every year. Then there are the series that get more bloated with every outing. Ludicrous levels of violence and gore are shoved in, endless collectables and unnecessary multiplayer modes are bolted on, as if they're an adequate substitute for new ideas.

I wasn't a big fan of the last uncharted, probably won't continue the series if they intend to keep it going.

The reviews for Uncharted 4 are amazing. I can't wait to play it. Neil mentioned that 4 would definitely be the end of the Uncharted series.

I greatly enjoyed Uncharted 3. Can't wait for 4. If it's the end, cool beans. Last of us 2 baby!!!

Uncharted's problem is that they made 3 of them in quick succession for PS3. You need to give the market some time in between sequels, too many sequels breeds the issues that Battlefield and Call of Duty are now having. People only buy some of the games, they pick and choose. Why are they making 4x the number of games and only capturing the sales as if they only released 1 game? You run your series into the ground pretty quickly and you have to rely on stupid gimmicks as an excuse to put out more games.

Do I need to play the previous versions to get into Uncharted 4 or can I just jump in as is?

Edit: Oh PS4, nevermind.

How can I possibly take this article at all seriously when it uses the phrase "white weewee" and has more about America's Next Top Model than anything related to Uncharted? Is this normal for Eurogamer?

IMO, all of the Uncharted games have been phenomenal. The weakest of the series (#3 per most people) is still a 92/100 game.
Personally, I hope this is the end, too. End things on a high note before things get stale. Give us a Seinfeld instead of a Simpsons. There are only just so many supernatural hidden treasures one man can get caught up in anyway.

I gave two chances to Uncharted. And I found out something about it each time that made me ragequite in 15 minutes or less: Bullet sponge enemies, awkward unintuitive QTEs. Two things ranked very highly on my worst video game offences list.

Similarly, Star Wars should have stopped with an extended version of Empire Strikes Back (30 mins material from RoJ).
