The Division - officially announced for PC!

The thing about this game is, when the gameplay is good, it is good. When it is bad, it is bad. When you are building your base and ranking up; or find a good group and have a reasonably productive run in the DZ /Mission / Incursion, it is a good time, addictive, keeping you wanting to come back for more. However when you're constantly getting ganked by hackers / exploiters that have cheesed through all the content and are now bored and can't be bothered to go after bosses when it's easier to use their 240 gear on hapless players trying to extract. Or when you want to craft something to try and compete, but you can't until you spend 6 hrs grinding out the resources, then waste them all on junk rolls you end up deconstructing, or when you've done the Incursion 3 times and realize the most effective tactic is to hide in a hole and shoot whatever you can safely peek out and get, because they are all just bullet sponges with zero variance in tactics to take them down. Then the game is bad and we come to forums like these and complain... because we really want the good to be the norm instead of the exception. But right now, at least for me, it seems the exception. That said, I know the Devs are trying so I will take a break and keep tabs until it sounds like things are moving in a better direction. If they never do, I suppose I've gotten my money's worth out of it. I can't say I'm ready for it to be over though.

i have hope that the next incursion will be more creative. guess we'll see.

the incursion would have been better if there were checkpoint saves, say after every bomb placement. as is if you scrub then restart. with the heavy time investment it is simpler and more reliable to glitch

it's not exactly a checkpoint but as long as one person stays alive during the missile salvo (following the C4 plant) the rest of the team will respawn. you probably already know this but i thought i'd throw it out there for people that don't know.

This, very much this. There was a quote posted on Reddit from the D3 developers that talked about how they had to change their mindset to fit the communities wishes. It was spot on, as Massive is taking the same exact path.

I can't find it anymore, but it boiled down to this with regards to D3:

- Post release they were worried about players leveling up too quickly. So they pulled back their high end drops and made other changes to increase the longevity of the game (making more rare).
- Gamers didn't like this and started glitching/exploiting to level up quicker.
- After lots and lots of patches, they came to the realization that it was better to have more players get more loot (full gear) at a good pace because it made them happy gamers. Happy gamers may leave but they'd return for DLC/content updates. Unhappy gamers would not.

Absence of a rollback for those that glitched to GS240, I think they need to make the DZ have another bracket. <GS160, GS161-GS200, > GS200. Let the diehards and glitchers have their own space. I'm only a GS132 (or thereabouts) as I have limited time and don't exploit - so I'll likely stop picking up gear near 160 because I don't want to be lumped into the rape machine.

This.

Massive can release all the DLC they want, but if it's as shallow as their first Incursion, and grinding is still glacial, I'm sure as shit spending my gaming hours elsewhere.

I enjoyed the level 1-30 gameplay because of the progression I felt.

I haven't done Falcon Lost yet on challenging. Who's up for that tonight?

Either that or run around the DZ in a team because I went in there solo last night and got ganked by one guy real quick exiting a safe room and then got ganked at the library by a group of 3. What a waste of time. I just wanted to get some electronics and tools to extract.

I could be down for some DZ tonight as long as the lag at my hotel isn't too bad. I'm mat constrained too, so some bulk extraction soul work for me.

i've tried Falcon Lost on challenging five times now i think (via matchmaking). only once did my group get past the first set of enemies in the tunnels :D. i don't think i'll be on tonight but i'm planning to devote Friday night to beating it on challenging.

I was wondering about this and it was weird (or bad) that in the live stream "state of the game" that they mentioned the GS bracket was determined not by what gear you had equipped, but rather some aggregate score of the gear you had in your stash, pack, and equipped.

I'll probably be around and I will try not to die so you spend all your time reviving me :)

the whole split level thing is confusing and stupid. it sounds good as a theory but it just does not work. They should ditch the gearscore crap and just make one main level that goes to 256, separated by brackets of 10 with exponentially scaling xp requirements. Enemies to be at the level of the highest leveled player. Each server instance only holds 16 players. Today it creates a level 30 instance with L31 enemies, tomorrow it can have level 40, 50 or 60 instances. It may "fragment" the player base, but that doesn't mean anything. Each world is only 16 players. should be easy to find a server for any level or create a new instance.

Not sure if anyone took Massive's community survey but one item stood out to me. The question was "would you consider paying for ..." with a list of stuff, such as comics, and so forth. The glaring item in this list.

"Increased stash space"

Yes, they were testing to see if people would pay to increase their stash space. Looking at the weird limits put on stash (half of your backpack?), PxC (1000. When good items cost 900), and materials. Then when you consider their attempts to increase the grind. It makes sense that they may be considering a F2P/mobile micro-transaction model being tacked onto the cost of the game.

- Currency: PxC Credits serve as the psychological disconnect from real currency.

- Scarcity: Introduce a scarcity of items where obtaining them would take ungodly amount of time. The increased HE drops wasn't really a buff, because they introduced a new tier. So gold is no longer the top gear. Yet, they completely neuteured crafting materials.

- Limitation: Limit basic gameplay needs or introduce limits to create an "annoyance" to the player. Segment players in such a way that they'd be compelled to purchase upgrades to stay competitive.

Check, check, check. I would not be surprised to see micro-transactions introduced to allow you to buy PxC credits with real currency. Those credits could then be used to buy:

- Experience boost timers
- Increased stash/wallet space
- Skill cool down speedup timers
- Weapons / mods / gear

I don't want to be right, but Ubisoft had teased this in a few of their more recent games. And no, I'm not saying I dislike the game, I'm just intrigued by the design/management decisions being made.

Well guys, be careful if you try and do anything tonight. Apparently since Ubi announced they're fixing the APC damage glitch, everyone is farming the shit out of it. jmaker, ghostwich, and I all tried to do the 2 hard dalies and about halfway through Consulate everything just lagged to hell.

Guess I'll be down to give it another try tomorrow, unless of course they give us 2 or 3 more glitches with this latest patch.

Yeah we couldn't even do the daily Russian mission. We were just lagging like crazy. We did manage to finish it but it was so bad. I just can't wait to see what new exploits will be found after tomorrow.

I decided to risk breaking my character to hit 1 billion, turns out that's the cap! Can't go higher.

So i take it those of us that dont use the exploits, hacks etc. are gonna be so far behind the rest that we can expect the DZ to be a rogue F-fest… seeing as most will have enough credits and material to re-roll and re-craft the weapons and gear until they have exactly what they want.

No offense, but this is the kind of shit that makes me want to quit playing forever. I haven't glitched, I farm PA the old fashioned way (i.e. running the whole fucking thing), I'm only Dz 36 or so because I can't stand the gankfest...so much potential flushed down the toilet by shitty game design and the fucking kiddies that exploit it. I'll never be able to compete, so why bother? It's a real shame because this game could have been great. Now it is a fucking joke.

Yep, still broken this morning. Might be time to just give it up and call the time of death for this one. Guess it's a good thing the D3 season is about to roll over.

This was the first time I've played in about a month. Came back, maxed out all my stuff in a few hours, and now I'm done with the game again. I haven't even completed the Incursion yet, no interest.

Haha holy shit what a shit show this turned into.

If they don't do roll-backs, the DZ is pretty much fucked for life.

How much time have you invested so far in the game? Seems like quite a bit.

Also, what do you do for a living?! You seem to max/pour hours upon hours into all the games that come out that I've seen.

Hey this means I might be able to play tonight as long as the servers didn't melt before they decided to patch this.

I'd say too late, unless they're doing rollbacks. Kotaku posted an article about the glitch and I'm sure every 14 year old with an internet connection probably ran with it

As I understand it, the glitch had a temporary effect, not permanent. Even if everyone got in on it, they should be back to normal post patch.

I saw how people were doing the infinite money/damage spam. How did the material glitch work?

For those wondering about time in the DZ at lower levels, both arr4ws and I spent a bit of time in the DZ last night, level 15-16, and we did relatively well, only one gank on arr4ws occurred and we just did what we could, got a couple extractions done and a few other things and we were set. Had a good time.

That was a different glitch with the Rewards Vendor where if they still offered you materials or dark zone keys, or bird credits, you can download Netlimiter and somehow limit your connection real low, and keep spamming the buy button as many times as possible, then you log out, and when you log back in all those items will be in your inventory. And no I didn't do this I just saw the image someone posted on Reddit. I couldn't anyway. I already retrieved everything I could from that vendor.

I need some folks to DZ with. J3ST3RM4A3 addme!

Added - BroHamBone ;)

Yea, was reading a thread on reddit and people were saying DZ LVL cap @ 19 was fun...Roguefest on equal playing field...in a sense.
