I can see something like this being hugely beneficial to medical students or for training purposes. If you have Google Cardboard, you can download an app and watch the first live VR stream of the surgery on Thursday.

On 14 April, Ahmed – a surgeon, cancer specialist, and co-founder of virtual and augmented reality firm Medical Realities – is going to cut off a tumour from the colon of a London man in his 70s. That's a routine operation with no particular risk attached. But unlike any other operation, when Ahmed and his team remove the cancer, a 360-degree camera rig mounted over the operating table will capture the doctors' every movement in 4K and livestream it globally in VR.

Yeah this is definitely something I'll want to watch while eating dinner! :p

Why? Was it closed or something?
Nah, just found it odd that you decided to comment before you knew what was being discussed, considering that the thread hadnt been bumped in a month. I guess what im saying is, why comment on a thread title when your question was answered in the article? It contributes nothing to the subject.

OT: They did a interview with the surgeon if anyone is interested. VR Community Interview with Dr. Shafi Ahmed ORinVR

A lot of replies contribute nothing on a subject, but they're said nonetheless.

I commented on the thread because I had not read the article. The question added nothing to our convo, but it was asked anyways...
