NVIDIA Unveils the DGX-1 HPC Server: 8 Teslas, 3U

In theory core 21 should work on it straight away, however it will take time for an optimised core and indeed drivers to come out to make the most of it.

And "reasonable" 130kUSD ... Sorry, too cheap for me ... :banghead:

But even Core 18 might make some good points on it.

I'm just thinking of the power infrastructure required to maintain a rack of these. You could fit 13 of these in a rack with a 1U or 2U switch at the top, but you'd need almost 40KW per rack! Assuming the 3200W power supplies are worst case with no redundancy and it really just pulls 1400W x 2, that's still over 30KW per rack. Considering many data centers only budget for 5KW up to 12KW per rack, these things are going to need a dedicated infrastructure.

Yeah, you're not going to be able to feed too many of those in a standard datacentre environment, you've got to consider the heat output as well. I dare say most datacentre cooling systems aren't expecting a 3u to spit out a potential 3kwh of heat when running flat out

The biggest issues software wise would be making sure that the drivers have opencl support and that each gpu can be seen separately.
