In this video from GDC, Valve's Joe Ludwig describes lessons learned from Valve's experience porting Team Fortress 2 to virtual reality. The video itself runs about thirty two minutes.

I could listen to people like this talk all day long. It's infinitely interesting to me to learn about some of the most basic issues people face and how they're resolved. I may not always understand what's being said, but I still find it interesting, lol.

Talk 30 minute about why Valve hasn't produced Half-Life 3. A sure goldmine. Idiots.

Wish they learned how to support their users in a proper fashion, instead of dumping on them like they aren't important. :(
When CS skins pretty much print them money every minute they have no need to make games or provide top teir support. Dota 2 and CS:GO make them so much money every year they could care less.

Pretty interesting stuff. When most of these development issues are hammered out and there are game developed specifically for VR; there we will see some amazing stuff.

Maybe they're afraid HL3 will turn out like Duke Nukem Forever. Sometimes it's less about the money, and more about the product, and reputation. At this point, the expectations for HL3 are through the roof, and it's basically impossible to deliver something that will please people, because of that.

I simply don't believe that. I think there will be another Half Life in the future. There is no such that as "such a high expectation that it'll never live up." That is entirely on a person to person basis. If you have expectations that's your problem, and should not affect Valve's decision to make it.
