Hi

I have 2 pc connected to my network and today i changed the name of pc 2 so i know what pc i am using for games and programs. But after i changed the name then i still see the old name from the pc on my network list in explore. And i cant open it cuz windows says its not connected cuz its "not there" anymore.

How do i remove this " ghost" image of the old pc name in network ?
I cant find anywhere to remove or delete it.

The new named pc is showing up fine under network and i dont want a network to show up everytime i change name of pc.

Most likely due to WINS/NetBIOS cache.

To release and refresh NetBIOS names by using the nbtstat command

1. Open Command Prompt.
2. At the command prompt, type:

nbtstat -RR

The progress of the release and refresh process is displayed as command-line output. This information indicates if all local NetBIOS names currently registered in WINS for this computer have released and renewed their registration with a WINS server.

Release and refresh NetBIOS names by using the nbtstat command: TCP/IP
