New build for Rift, Revit and gaming.

Will put in 6700K with either 16 or 32gb high speed ram.

I am not familiar with over clocking but probably will try it, not trying for extreme clock.

I won't have more than 1 high end GPU at a time. I may do SLI in the future but right now I'm not too interested.

I am interested in the M.2 drives. It looks like the Deluxe and the WS can handle 2 of these?

I like these 3 boards. Seems there are several reviews on the Deluxe but not so much on the other 2. Thoughts or familiarity with these?

I dont know anything about those 3 boards, but is there a specific reason you are limiting yourself to only ASUS boards ?

I have had their Maximus-series boards before and they were fine, but after doing ALOT of research, I found that the board in my sig met all of my needs, feature requirements and wants, so I bought it and I am extremely pleased with it in every way....

Looks great, very fast, easy to o/c, very fast, tons of slots/connectors, and oh yea, it is very fast too !

And yes, I know I need a new(er) GPU, and that is on my list, probably a fathers day gift :geek:

I'll check it out. No reason I am limiting myself to Asus. I'm willing to try something else.

I was leaning towards the Asus WS because it has 12K solid capacitors. The Deluxe has 5K solid capicitors. I haven't been able to find out what the capacitors are rated on the Premium board. Does anyone know?

I tend to run my computer 24/7 so the higher quality parts was a draw for me.

Then I read the WS uses the PEX8747 chip. The article said the chip adds a bit of latency which is apparent when only a single GPU is used. Since you can't believe everything you read does anyone know if this is true? I plan on using a single 980ti.

I absolutely agree. My last 4 boards were from Asus. This time around, the Gigabyte GA-Z170X Gaming 7 met my needs and exceeded them. I have not been this happy with a mobo in ages. This thing rocks and has ll the bells and whistles I could ask for.

I was checking out the Gigabyte G1. It looks nice. Same Pex8747 chip the Asus WS board has, so that same GPU issue. Looks like Gaming 7 does not. Do either of you run a M.2 drive? Any heat problems?

I have a Samsung 950 PRO, and I have had no heat issues. I actually tested the drive in both m.2 slots to see where it ran cooler. It ran almost the same in both.

I am still liking that Gigabyte 7 you recommended.
I think I've got about another week or two to make a decision. I've really being pouring through the reviews.
Two boards that I'd also like to compare to the Gigabyte 7 but can't find reviews on are the Asus z170 Premium and the Asus Hero Alpha. Price points are slightly higher. Does anyone own either of these boards or seen a review for either?

I was on the same boat as you with similar specs and ended up going with the Gigabyte Gaming 7. There was a $20 MIR last week from Newegg so I was able to score the motherboard for under 200 bucks.
