EVGA 980 Ti Classified - $591.99 (After $20 MIR, $68 Rebate code EMCEHFM22)

Damn and it comes with the divison cd-key which would probably drop this another 30$ if you find someone to buy it.. hell of a deal...

yea I noticed the minor visual differences but in the features section both have backplates listed unless it's an error on the 0998-KR one

i don't think the 4997 model has the back plate and is the core freq. lower the the 4998 model?

EDIT* nevermind.. its a 0998 model.. not really sure on the difference now...

I think it's an error in the listing about the backplate, look up the part number on google and it will direct you to EVGA's website... and 0998 has no backplate while 4998 does

This appears to be correct. No backplate on this model.

The "visual differences" everyone is reffering to is because this 980 Ti has the ACX 1.0 cooler, not the 2.0 cooler. And as far as I know, this does not include the backplate.

Thanks for posting this, been drooling over a Classy. The backplate isn't a big deal for me, as my mobo is horizontal and the card will get a waterblock installed.

very nice deal and so tempting if i wasn't getting the hybrid version

In the pictures it shows the card with a brown EVGA box, I thought reforms usually come in the brown boxes?

I hate all these deals on Ti cards. Must not waiver,

must be strong....

For....

Pascal...

Anyone else order one of these? Newegg is being slow updating my order status. They're usually a lot quicker.

EDIT: Recieved order update and everything appears to be good to go. Now the "Hurry Up FedEx" game begins.

lol I went and ordered one (even though, just 24 hours earlier, I swore up and down that I was waiting for the new generation.... oh well lol)

Anyway, my order was slow to update too initially. Turns out it's supposed to be delivered today!!! Can't wait to put this beast in my HTPC lol

I received mine yesterday, waterblock showed up today. Got everything assembled and now I'm leak testing. This card is tall compared to my old 780s. I seen your post in the other thread, your probably best off looking for a 12+2 phase pcb card, those should be shorter. Best of luck.

Yeah big pascal will be interesting. Though I just can't wait for the benchmarks.

This thread has been driving me nuts since yesterday.

I have a 6gb evga 780 and have been thinking about a 980ti for awhile. Then I start reading about the new cards on the way and just stare at this one in my Newegg shopping cart. Lol.....

I'm torn. I game at 2560x1440 and the 780 is still good. I recently helped a friend price out a new system with a 980ti and it got my upgrade juices flowing.

So far I am holding pat but left the card in the cart just in case. The deal ends today so not much time left......

So, I bought a 980 TI last night (a used reference EVGA 980 TI SC) and my thinking is this: I will use this card until I have solid reviews for the newest cards and I am also apprehensive about buying in to Pascal in case they pull another 980 -> 980 TI. If you follow the used market you can see that the 980 is worth MUCH less than the 980 TI and the 970 is a MUCH better seller than the 980. People go highend or low end and nothing in between. I don't want to get stuck in the middle. I figure I will lose a few bucks when I sell it, sure, but in the mean time this 980 TI will run 1440p how I want to run. Maybe new games will change that but if I wait around until Q1 2017 then perhaps there will be a solid consensus on what cards perform the best (as the HBM2 AMD cards will supposedly arrive then)

Well I hope you are happy because you convinced me. Lol....

Didn't take much

I will sell my 780 and I used my PayPal line of credit so no interest if i pay it off within six months. So why the hell not? The next line of cards probably won't have the 980 ti equivalent till 2017. When that hits I will wait six months anyway then restart my upgrade cycle again!

lmao listening to you guys justify it is making me feel better about my impulse buy as well

enjoy the new toy :)

Mine was an impulse buy coming from SLI 780s, as I will lose a small amount in games with good SLI profiles, but being stuck at 3gb when gaming @ 5760x1080 is no bueno on some of these newer titles. Now if I had the rare 6gb 780/780ti cards, I would've looked over this and waited for solid Pascal reviews.

This card will hold me over for a good while.

To me it's just mental gymnastics, and it doesn't matter whether you have the final revision of a given iteration. The 980's were top dog for roughly 9 months. Depending on when Pascal releases, the 980ti will likely wind up being the top dog for a year (give or take). The ti version was of course, more expensive. Personally I think people just let their compulsive tendencies get the best of them, so they want the final iteration of a given architecture. I don't buy into the notion that whatever card is released in the 980 slot is a midrange card. If it's faster than the old "ti" then it's faster.. for a non-trivial number of months. It'll get replaced by a more expensive card with a larger die, which gets replaced with a new architecture.. Rinse and repeat.

If you need an upgrade, get an upgrade.

Can I SLI this with my EVGA 980TI SC (Reference Cooler)? Not sure offhand and don't want to get stung lol.

you should be able to, i think both cards would just operate at the speed of the slowest clocked card.

I was under the impression that they needed to be the same SKU?

I could be wrong

That is a very slippery slope. Do you NEED an upgrade? Or do you just want to upgrade?
Personally, 9 times out of 10, I want to upgrade. And then I make up 100 different reasons to convince myself that I NEED to upgrade.

And then I upgrade..:D

I'm pretty sure you can mix and match with SLI. You can have an Asus GPU with a MSI one for example.

Essentially, they need to be the same chip, they will clock to whichever is slowest. Now, I'm not sure how it works if you had say a 2Gb and 4Gb card like a 960 series.

GAH!

I sold my 290X a week ago and bought an open box R9 Fury Strix last week figuring that it would be reasonaby overclock and give me closeish performance to a 980 ti, but really all I got was a card that would unlock to 4096 shaders at 1000MHz. =( And wouldn't really clock much higher, on any set of shader cores. =( So for only maybe $100 more, the MSI 980 Ti golden edition should at least hit that much more in performance. And I can finally go back to NVIDIA for decent monitor settings.

Well I thought that the card was busted. It runs so cool temp wise and I didn't know about this 0db fan feature. I took it apart three times and reseated and the fans would not turn on.

Then in the valley test they went on finally at around 60c.

So at stock volts she runs at + 75 to core and +550 on the Samsung memory. This weekend I'll try adding volts and maybe put on a custom bios.

Asic was not high 64.1 but other than that satisfied so far.
